Sorry about all the questions but, how did you hinge the ailerons? It looks like there is not enough balsa on the wing to use CA hinges. Also I'm still looking for the size of push rods everyone is using.

Aileron Hinging

I actually left my Pro film coverirng on each of the ailerons about 3/8" longer on the top front edge and then Ironed it onto the TE as the hinge ( if that all makes sense).Works well. I used standard CA hinges for the elevators.

Salty, I used tape instead of CA hinges.

Aileron pushrods I used .047" music wire. It seems to be adequate.

For the tail I used the Dubro parkflyer pushrods which consist of .030 music wire inside guide tubes. This is pretty marginal, but it works. If you could find something more like .047 with guide tubes for the tail, that would be my suggestion.

I already bought a .032 gold-n-cable. Is there anyway to make it work or do I need to try to exchange it?

if it's in a tube then it should be fine. the tube will keep it from flexing.

Well, I'm finally getting around to working on mine again. Covered the top of the wing tonight. Very happy with the color. Although those compound curves are a bear to cover. The bottom is going to be transparent gold, and I think the head might be red like a vulture's.

Nice Tessex. I haven't seen one with gold before. Keep those photos coming.

Control surfaces are mounted. Now I just need to hook up the ailerons, install the tail surface controls, receiver, battery, and props. Then adjust the throws and set center of gravity and she'll be ready for maiden.

You're in the home stretch. I like the green.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted the photo. Those are going on. I figure they'll be opaque gold. (The underside is transparent gold with red trim around the wing. I'll get a shot of it up in a few days.

Yeah, I like the green too. Although I should have run the covering as a single piece from wingtip to wingtip. As it is, I have a dark green line down the center where the two pieces overlap. Oh well, something to remember when I build her big sister, the 80" one.

Yes, that's the tricky part of translucent covering. I cannot seem to avoid them.

Thought about making irregular sploches to make it look more like cammoflauge. It would seem a natural effect to me. Kind of like a leopard's spots only I wouldn't make them so small.

I did mine in a lighter shade of translucent green and was going to add purple dots as a sort of color scheme but the wife nixed it. She said it looks better in the plain green.
