Build Log
52" Marston Ptrerodactyl by PteroWorks

I've wanted to build a radio controled bird since I was boy. When I stumbled across this bird I knew I had to build one. I've been flying for about 1.5 years now and I think I can handle it so here we go!

http://www.pteroworks.com/pteros.htm

This is going to be a long process for me since build time is limited, but the kit itself looks pretty simple and not very time consuming.

JimT,
In the event you haven't seen it, there's an extensive build thread here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492408

Here are links to flight videos:

Interesting model, to be sure!

I read Tim's thread start to finish and really enjoyed it. I will be watching this one as well. I have to admit this is a plane that is on my list just for the shear beauty of it. It looks like an enjoyable build as well.

Have fun with it, I'll be watching.

First Steps

My son and I started building over the weekend. He did most of the work .

First impressions:

I'm very pleased with the kit!
So far all the joints have been nice and tight so they will take CA well.
All the ribs are numbered to make assembly a snap.
The leading edge is light ply and locks into the carbon spar and the ribs, very neet!

It's funny, sometimes this plane seems big and sometimes it seems small.

The full size plan has several views and does a great job of showing how everything goes together. The directions are also very clear and come with pictures.

Bob,

There will soon be a full review of this kit here, just click the Ezone link at the top of the page and watch for it or click coming soon for periodic updates. Nothing to report as of now as I am awaiting shipment of the kit.

This is my first twin as as well!

We added the trailing edge, I held while my son added the CA.

I look forward to the review, maybe I'll learn a few things.

Is that trailing edge all light ply? Looks like it.

A nice application of a "Unique Looking" plane that actually flies. I was very impressed with Tim's thread and I am watching this one simply because the size is a little more in my range and of coarse I want to see how it goes together. My flying skills will not allow me to fly something like this now but in the future it's unique appearance makes it almost a must have.
