I have some components laying around from previous project. Could you help me find a plane that could utilize this stuff:
Kontronik 40-6-18 ESC
Four Hitec HS-65HB
4S 2500mah 25C LiPo
Futaba R148DP Rx

Never owned a plane but have flown a couple... been a heli guy since the beginning but would like to try a plane out. Don't really know were to start looking. Would like something with the power to climb vertically for a few seconds.

Well, if you have 3 cell 2100's then a Mini Ultra Stick or Mini Pulse on low rates seems like the right plane. Buy the PPNP and don't worry about your electronics. Just plug in your receiver, charge up a 3 cell 2100 mah lipo, plug it in and go fly.

Do you have any fixed wing experience at all? Might wanna think about a trainer first, just to get your feet wet.

Don't have any 3s 2100mah... just 4s 2500mah as listed above. Any ideas for 4s?

Yes, have flown a couple of trainers and was bored after a minute or two. Been flying a lot on the sim too.

Yeah that'll happen if you're used to helis. Planes are much easier. Get something more exciting than a trainer. (Although I don't have any particular suggestions for that power setup, sorry.)

the 3DH EBT could possibly be ran on that set up

a little over powered but later on you could switch to a velox or the extra SR

Looks like all of these can use the same power set up. They all look like the same thing to me though... just different colors?

The Aspera is a sports plane.

The Extra and Velox are 3d planes. Do a search ...there are long threads on all three plane. All are very good planes.

You might want to consider the Hobby City Zippy 2100 mah 3 cell 25C lipos. I'm running the 1300 mah ones in a 185 watt setup, and they run cool, and give me around 13 minutes of flight.

Also, Mojo lipos are awesome. The 2100 mah 3 cell 20C lipos are much better than comparable thunder power lipos, according to a guy I've talked to. You can get them form www.dwfoamies.com , and the price they cost leaves room for more than 1

The Extra SHP is probably the most adaptable airframe on the market. It can be used for basic aerobatic training all the way through advanced 3D. At this point I'de say it would be your best bet.

Start with this setup, and then add more throiw as your skills improve. Pretty soon you'll be doing full tilt 3D. Of course, on 4s it's going to have plenty of power.

If nothing else, the flying always tells the truth, so watch the videos.

This new MS Composit Cap 232 might fit your bill.They aren't cheap, but they are EPP foam, and fly very well. I've just picked up one myself. 4 cell setup really brings them to life.

Not telling you what to buy....but take a look at the video in the link that Doc provided. IMO the 3DHS Extra SHP will do it all sport wise and leave you room for 3d if you deside to do that later too.
