I've been trying to come up with a jet that hasn't been done yet and I want to flex my minute scratch building abilities.
I am thinking a Saab J-37 Viggen large enough to have retracts.

so now I basically have to build it around a power plant.

do you guys have any reccomendations?
I was thinking a jepe unit? or?
I'm really stuck as to what unit would be best motor, battery and so on.


So I think I'll try my hand at a plug then get it molded and such.

Dimension:

Size the model for a 90mm EFD unit (I recommend a Schubeler DS51-3ph, Pricey but the best out there : http://www.schuebeler-jets.de)
Jepe fan is just as good but not designed for 1kw+ applications, more suited is size is slightly less and weight <2,5kg/5pounds.

Next is overall size of model, I think 140cm/55" length is a good number and aim for ~3-3,5kg/6-7pounds AUW. => 1kw power from ~25cells. Figure out which motor based on intended cellcount and powerlevel.
Cells - apparently the best battery out there at this time is the Sanyo HR-SC2600 NiHM, get'em zapped.

the schubie fan and the motors they sell look like a good setup, but REALLY expensive!

oh well I guess for perfection there is a price!

Chris, I built the Ziroli Viggin for the RK-720. Not fast but extremely manuverable. Proved to be a decent small field flyer.
I think the design is very adaptable to edf. I would like to scale it down to mini-fan size. But, it may give you a starting point.
