Went to see the Afghan Bhudda's again...

So, we flew up to Bamyan, Bamian, whatever, again the other day. Im told that there is a "no fly zone" somewhere around there... hmmm... interresting. Anyway, got some really nice looking pictures of the Bhudda statues, or rather, the holes where they are rebuilding them.

Was begining to think you were lost..
Thought maybe we'd have to send some Grunts to find you. Glad to hear you'll be coming home for awhile. Long term-short term?

LOL, yeah Dan, Im still here. Things have been "busy" over here is all. No need to send the grunts out yet. I'll be going home for 18 days in July for my mid-tour leave. It'll be sooooo nice to see the family again.

I was going to ask this when you posted these pictures before, but never did. Was there a statue in that big hole in the mountain side that actually filled the hole or is that a place for a smaller one? I do enjoy your pictures. Keep safe.

Here is what it was before:

Not to turn this political, but boy, when they blew those things up on purpose, you knew these guys were totally off their nut. I mean, at least the Nazis (not drawing any parallels except that they were undeniably bad guys) mostly just STOLE history.
But then again, they mighta blown them up too.

Laine,
Glad your ok. Didn't see any posts from you, so I just figured you were really busy. Seems the bad guys are at it again. Hope you stay safe and get home soon.

Stay safe, was a great article about you in MA and I hope to see it fly in person some day.
