Rudder?
Hello,
I'm in the middle of building my FlyFly Mirage. Would it be worth the effort to install a rudder? I've got a HS-55 laying around and the vertical stab is thick enough to house this servo. I'd run the leads down into the fuselage hump. Thanks for any advice. Kelvin |

Kelvin. I put a rudder on my B-58 thinking another control surface would give me options at better stability.
All it did was make my rolls ugly and flutter in the high speed passes. Flutter being my fault. I have added rudders to other delta designs and wound up not using it much at all. In this case with the Mirage ( my Mirage) I was close to adding nose weight to get the CG right. I'm sure that glassing the model caused the CG issue however, limited space to move the battery around would keep me from adding a servo back there. Then there is the hiding the servo and it's linkage to think of. Personally I would say no but you would be able to do barrel rolls with it. |

Crosswind doesn't matter as long as you have a pretty field! Yeah, I hardly used the rudder on my 2nd build so I left it off on the one I have now. |

Has anyone else expirenced wing flutter at high speeds ,, at my guess it was about 110mph 10ft off the ground and there is still a derbie field of about 200m in my field with my battery smouldering away ,, my fan didn’t make it either and I cant find the motor that’s how bad the impact was ,,, but I had never had wing flutter before and I have had about 50 flights. Oh well time for a new one this time moving the servo position with thicker control bars. So for all those still flying be very careful of the high speed flutter…….
