4400 would be fine, just use some throttle management so you dont get it too hot.

The black retracts would be ok, the grey ones are a little lightweight, I have some of them for the HET 262, its made for them, and I wouldnt use them in a 90mm myself especially if on grass.

Get yourself a set of these and never look back. Perfect if you're over 3.0kg and operating on grass.

Scunna - do you actually work?? You probably don't have 3 kids and a full time job like i do because mate every time I see you you've got something new ready to fly.

Awesome Mirage. Post some vid when you get it going. All your vids are sweet.

I guess you'll be going with a perfectly balance CS12 (again)??

I think I might take my retracts out and go with a bungee launch. We have a sealed strip, but it’s always cross wind, our grass strip is better, but I don’t know if I would get it off the ground before the fence! The recommended hook location is 600mm from the nose, but I’m not sure just gluing a ply plate to it is going to hang on with 11kg of tension. Has anyone done this yet?

I have found that the Mirage takes to the air a lot sooner on grass than on a sealed strip. Think the reason is that it is not even and if you get a little bump to get the positive AOA it takes to the air. Just make sure that the retracts and oleos can handle the grass.

Hand Launch is very easy with the Mirage, just cut slots for fingers in the bottom at the CG area or just in front. I usually dremel out a thumb hole and a slot for the fingers, works great. Its about the most non event HL model around, the stability means it just floats out on its own.
