A couple of things to check:

1. Verify that you have the speed controller plugged into the throttle channel of the receiver. If it is plugged into the battery position, it will act as you describe.

2. Verify motor spins if you hook it up directly to battery.

3. If motors spins on battery and it is hooked up as described in step 1 - you may have a bad ESC. Trick RC has great customer service, give them a call.

Brett,

The connectors are reversed because you need reverse rotation of the motor. One thing you could do is to try another motor is you have one, this way you can determine if it's a bad motor.

Also, make sure the connector from the speed controller is touching that copper wire coming from the motor.

Chris.

Very good tips, all of which could be the problem. One thing you might also check is to make sure your throttle trim is not set to high. If the speed control reads to high of a throttle setting it will not allow your motor to activate for safety reasons. I only wish my Pegasus 35 had this option, my finger wishes it too.

Hey Thanks Guys!

Yup, I got the engine running. I had the ESC wire in the wrong recieving slot. Well, then on to the next question. Should I cycle my battery back a couple times (run the engine till the battery is dead)? If so what throttle setting. Trick R/C doesn't recomend full throttle the whole battery life. I'm didn't see any instructions for this in the manual. What did you guys do. Oh, and its a 8-cell 1700mAh.

Thanks!

Can't Get Zagi 400-X Motor to Start

Hey Guys,

Just got my Zagi 400-X. I set up all me electrical equipment (not installed) and noticed my engine won't run. The battery is charged and will run the servos. It sounds like there is suppose to be a red LED light in the ESC? If so it doesn't turn on. I have the blue ESC wire hooked up to the connector next to the red dot and the red wire hooked up the other connector. (Is this right, it makes more sense for the red wire to hook up with the red marked connector? But thats what the directions say) Oh, and I don't have it soldered yet, does it have to be soldered before it will start? If anybody knows whats goin on give me a reply!

Can't wait to get this thing flyin'

Don't worry about the battery too much. I have 5 of the 1700 packs and have yet to cycle any of them. They are all close to one year old. I charge them at about 4 amps and discharge them often at full throttle running an Astroflight brushless. I have been running them recently in a Twinjet as well.

Good to hear that you got it running.

That's odd. I have a Pegasus 35 that I bought last year and I have to bring the throttle down all the way before the more starts to run. I'll double check it again.
Did Castle RC change the program?

Come to think of it, I believe you are correct. I must have accidentally throttled up on the flight line while trying to reprogram my radio. Thanks for the refresher training, sorry for the brain **** .
