Another Wicked P3 F-16!

This is my second P3 F-16, after flying on stock power I got the speed bug & went for a wicked setup this time. Fully glassed & tail-reinforced plus I added a NACA duct under the nose to help with battery cooling.

I'm using Dons wicked 4800kv motor and wicked 60mm EDF with the 5 blade impeller. ESC is a 60 amp Turnigy plush & battery is a 4S 2200mAh 30C Zippy Lipo. On the wattmeter I got 48 amps burst current & settled down to 43 amps & 580 watts continuous. Did my maiden flight last Saturday & this sucker moves out! I flew at half-throttle most of the time to get used to the added speed. Thanks Don!

Dust Mite

Dust Mite, maidened Saturday morning 4/3/10. The Pentium 40A ESC is working just great! Buried inside the wing, 54 amps and 580 watts in static using an 1800mAh 3S1P, turning a cut down APC Carbon 4.75 X 4.50 (cutdown to 4.53 diameter) and powered by a Cypher 3D heli motor, 3800 kv. It flys fast, rolls great and slows down to a crawl for landing with a wing loading of 11 oz sq/ft.

20" w/s, 17.5 oz RTF, top is purple with Flouresent Orange fins and bottom is 2" black & White checkers.

Michael (if your not frying, your not tryin!)

OEM fan/shroud with Don's Wicked 4000. Very nice flyer. Don's motor made the difference between something that melted down every few flights and a long term stable, maintenance free flyer.

Hello all, I got this F-5e from a flying buddy for the right price free . Yes, it was beat up but not now after a few hours of work. I wanted a mix of more power and good flight times without going overboard on a 70mm set up. Some time last year I got 2 BI-3600 extra long can motors from Don at Don's RC. They are a bit longer than the regular BI-3600 motors. The regular BI-3600 motors will get you about 650 to 700 watts on a 4s pack. So I said to myself the extra long can motor should put out a bit more power. And it does . I went with the Het 6904 70mm 4 blade fan with this motor all from Dons. Now for the power like I said before I am running the Het 6904 70mm fan with the BI-3600 extra long can motor, 120amp Sky Wing ESC, external UBEC and a 4S 3300mAh 22C pack to power it all. Here are the readings I got on the set up with my Hyperion watt meter and I did not have a fresh charge on the pack.

Thanks Don for the great motor and fan set up . So some time this week I will get a video of the F-5e flying and have Don doppler it for me. I myself think it is doing 90 to 95 mph. We will see. Thanks again Don for great stuff and service.
(UPDATE) The Don did a doppler reading for me and got 101 mph. Nice

Keep em flying

Wicked 5400 powered BlitzRCWorks F-16

Thanks for making my first EDF exerience great! I couldn't be more happy.

The balanced and prewired speed control made everything so easy - I had the plane ready to go in about 4 hours.

I followed you build thread and ended up with a flying weight of 13.6 oz.

My brother an I could not wait so we went out and did the maiden flight this weekend. The recent snow made for soft landings.

Here is a video of the 2nd flight (I was too nervous to video the first one.) My brother was flying and I was tryin to figure out how to use his iPod to take video.

Here is a picture after landing.

After flying it outside, my brother felt that he would be able to fly it indoors so we brought it to the Golf Dome that night. Here is a video of a flight indoors. He settles down after a bit and goes full throttle around the 1 minute and 30 second mark.

BlitzRCWorks F-16 EDF - wicked powered (2 min 49 sec)

Thanks again for the great service and great EDF motor/fan and speed control combination.

And now for something totally different...

Flying Shark with 4000 kv Wicked, 64mm EDO type I, mount & balance, Pentium 40 & Don's servos too. AR6110 RX and 4s 2200 packs. 17.9 oz. w/o pack. 3 flights so far and it's fun! Haven't pushed the speed too much yet as the packs are new, but it's got gobs of thrust and will basically fly right out of my hand. Will try to get some video after the packs break in so Don can doppler it.
