I can see that you are clearly bothered by this. What is your purpose for the legailistic analysis of the discussions presented here? I thank you for the welcome, but I am perplexed as to your etiquette in the statement above. |

http://www.modelaircraft.org/plans.aspx You just about have to know of the plan name and appx date published in order to be able to look one up. There are appx 40 to 45 years worth of accumulated plans that are available. I hope that eventually they have at least a thumbnail picture of each completed model... but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not sure when Model Aviation went from a pamphlet size newsletter to a full size magazine. I have the Dec 1959 and Jan 1960 appx 5X8 appx 20-30 page each issues. |

Hi all, I have a .46 sized extra 300, and I fly it every weekend at my dads house an hour away. Would AMA cover it if I flew it in a fublic field? I live in Enumclaw Washington, and there is a lot of open areas, like schools and parks. The school field I was looking at is very large, bigger than the field I fly at.

As long as you are allowed to fly there and do it in a safe manner, then yes, it will if something goes wrong.
But, with that said, there are lot of factors to be considered when the insurance is involved. -Where you safe? Did you do something negligent? Did you have written permission to fly there? Etc. I would check to make sure your home owners insurance also covers you to be on the safe side. Frank |

Ok, i read over the rules for AMA, and according to them, I just have to make sure that I avoid people that are unprotected where I am flying, That will not be a problem as there is never anyone in that field, and I will get permission from the school, assuming it is school property. Thanks! |

The other point about HO insurance. What are YOUR limits? They could be fairly low.
AMA Insurance is waht $2 million these days? Does your HO coverage have a $2 million limit? Probably not. And if you hit someone, you could easily be looking at a million dollars in medical care. |

If you crash your airplane or HELICOPTER into someone the AMA will be there to help. YOU. They will make sure the fool you crashed into does not get any compensation for your mistakes.

WRONG. They will try to minimize the pay out, like all insurace does, but they WILL pay the compensation.
IMO, the biggest thing about having insurance is not the payout, but the legal representation that it provides. |

Thats very true. The AMA will hire the very best attorney's your money can buy. They will make sure anyone you happen to crash into never see's a dime or even gets there medical bills paid. But that's ok cuz you will be represented by the best. You won't have to worry , as for the fool you crashed into SOL.

If the claim is obviously reasonable it gets paid. If the claim is apparantly unreasonable then it gets run through the system. Sometimes settled out of court.... sometimes ending up in trial. This is the way ALL insurance companies handle claims. Every year the AMA publishes an insurance report in Model Aviation. They list the numper of claims made, the number paid and the number pending resolution. Occasionally they list one or two as denied... or withdrawn. They also list the total amount paid out. Due to the way settlements tend to get written... they can't give a breakdown on individual settlement amounts. |

Ok, so I have to join AMA so I can go do videos at the Joe Nall show?
So, what is the least cost to me to join? Only thing I fly is micro foam airplanes in my front yard. ______ Dennis |
