Multiplex EVO Recall

In regards to the MPX recall for EVO, will Hitec in CA handle this recall for the U.S. MPX customers?

thanks

The recall does not apply to or affect any of the U.S. Evo units.

Thank you Brendan. You may want to state this in the Radio forum. There is a thread started there concerning this issue.

thanks

My Evo 12 was bought in the US and I just wonder why the US models do not need to be overhauled as I am also using it in 35mgh...

The components in question are not used with the 72 mhz versions of the Evo.

MPX Recall

I just got off the phone with service rep in California. The recall does not apply to 72 Mhz systems sold in the U.S.A.

The parts in question are only in the European modules.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the basic Evo's all the same ?

In Europe you can buy them without module and put in whatever you like and a lot of them has gone on export out of EU. It's the module you put in that decides if it's 35/36/40/41/72MHz / 2.4GHz.

If it's the module that need service why send the whole Tx and not only my 35MHz HFM-S module ?

Good question. I bought my Evo from Germany and my 36 MHz module from Australia. Why would an Evo with a 72 MHz module be any different?

I am wondering too why my tx should avoid the overhaul ? Just because it's on 72mgh and I bought it in the US ? If it's the hf module only why sending the whole radio and should I send to Multiplex my 35mgh cristal module ? This does not make much sense and we do need more information....

Yes, I am curious about this as well. My understanding is that all the EVOs are made in the Phillipines so, are U.S. radios made in the Phillipines and European radios made elsewhere?

If all radios are made in the same factory then the recall should be for a know set of serial numbers and not just radios sold in Europe. Why send in the entire radio when the problem is the HF module?

Something is not adding up here.

The problem is problem in the FM module and not on the mainboard. AT least now I don't have to worry about sending mine in.

Then why not send in just the FM module. I can understand that the problem may only involve the European frequencies but why send in the entire transmitter. Now if there have been evidence of the module causing problems on the mainboard then that would be a real good reason to send the tx in.

While we are not owed a full explaination from MPX about the recall it would be nice if they did give a full disclosure instead of the terse statement that they made.

Got me wondering now as well. My Evo was purchased in the USA with a 72 MHz synth module, but I operate it with a 35 MHz module purchased in the UK.

What do I do?
