Brad, I actually saw your fuse getting laid up a while back at the place where the glass work is done in Wylie, TX....

Looks like it will be a great project.

Thanks guys for all the (funny) compliments !!

Sorry I don't have any exciting updates, I'm waiting on a second box of parts from Dean which has the plans, plywood formers, foam wing and tail cores, canopy, etc...

All I can do right now is keep drooling on the fiberglass

Hopefully I'll have those parts sometime next week so I can dive right in..

Meanwhile I've been reading up on sheeting foam wings (this will be my first time)

Got a question....after a plane reaches a certain size, is it possible to convert over to say a small lead acid car battery for power? Is the power/weight ratio decent? A car battery costs $75, a lipo with same power costs $$$$$. Just curious.

well with only 12volts I would say not now at least! i mean want to carry x2 just to get enough good volts, or stick with 12 for what several hundred amps. but! not quite along lead acid but I have a feeling car batteries will, in the not too distant future, end up as 40 votls plus, but will be in 123 format. just specualting here mind you. so next question might actually be will they be running our 123's in cars! lol

The lead/acid answer is No! For Barry the answer is Yes!

At least three years ago (perhaps more) an interview with an automotive engineer type (in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING) indicated plans were being made to use 48 volt batteries. The impetus was to use lighter gauge (and weight) copper wires.

You need to go back to school. Have you ever reconsidered why these cells were so hard to get? (and still are hard to get in Europe)
