The title of this thread says it all. I've been flying the "Slow Stik" Robster gave me as a BDay gift for the past two days. It took me all of 3.5 hrs to put it together and modify with split wings and steerable tailwheel. This thing flys great stock and I can now fly with the Rob Squad and their Slow Stiks (Can you say Pylon Races?). Anyway, it seems to have better power than I'd expected. Is there a lighter plane that can use this motor and hover?

I run this same power setup on my IFO with 10 cells and it'll hover.
For some reason though, I don't believe that's what your after

Bill, you have a S300 in your IFO? Perhaps you have the SS confused with the lite stik?

Not unless the lite stick comes with an 32" aluminum tube in the kit now.

I've based the MiniFlash around the EPS300-D motor and 12x6 prop. To hover you should have a 1.5:1 thrust to weight which the EPS300 won't give you in the MiniFlash but it will hover somewhat.

Fred, I'm trying to stay with this stock powerplant. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm flying the Switch Back 3D on the 300C-D with 12x6 prop. This plane is a couple ounces lighter than the MiniFlash, and it hovers fairly well on this setup. I use 7x600AE or 8x720NiMH and it flies about the same with either. Have to extend the LG to accommodate 12" props... an easy mod... just bend a new one

Here's proof

This will hover at a tad over 50% throttle and will go vertical like a rocket at 100% throttle. Careful! It really does take off that fast!

Props: GWS 1080
Motors: GWS DX (from the tigermoth)
Battery: 8 X Duracell AAA 750mah NiMh

Problem: Won't turn right very well. Too much left hand torque! Need to find a counterrotating prop to null out the torque effect.

But hey: It'll defintely hover and will do vertical takeoffs.

Nope! Perfectly flat 3/16" thick foamboard. Lift is nonexistant and it's simply the motors pulling it along. When it flies slowly it's doing so at a very high AOA.

This thing is dirt cheap and incredibly easy to build. It's also fun to fly but it's very unstable. Flying straight and level is very hard. It's just too twitchy.

But it will climb like a bat out of hell! Which makes it worth the $3 CDN "invested" in the airframe.

I've crashed it 5 times already and it's just pure jokes. Very little damage during crashes and major damage is easily fixed. because it's so cheap you go out and take risks that you wouldn't normally do with a plane that cost you 10 times more and took you several evenings to build.

Very fun plane for messing around. LOL

Megatech merlin hovers pretty good. it will be awesome on lighter radio setup and Will also work on GWS setup

Can't you just swap the power wires on one motor and flip the prop on that motor?
It works on my twin Turn On.
