Question
Suppo motor for 15-16 oz 3D plane?

I will be getting my first 3D plane and would like suggestions for a Suppo motor + prop for a 15-16 oz 3D flyer (e.g. Flash, DW Foamie Yak)? I will be using my TP 1320 3s batteries.

thanks
mike

A 38g A2208/14 (1450Kv) with an 8x4 GWS HD on 3s gets you this:

10.8v, 11.90A, 128W, 11190rpm, 42.2mph, 686g, 24.16oz, 5.36g/W

If you think your 1320's can cope with closer to 20A, them the A2208/12 (1800Kv) with a Graupner 7x4 SF gets you this:

10.7v, 18.25A, 195W, 12330rpm, 46.7mph, 787g, 27.71oz, 4.04g/W

The only Suppo I can see is the 51g A2212/15 - that spins an 11x5.5 @ 10.3A/111W and gets you 25.3oz @ 32mph or a 2212/13 which with a 10x6 GWS HD gets you 28oz @ 43mph from 13.05A/141W.

3D doesn't require a large prop - it requires a good thrust/weight ratio and in my book one of the 2208's (13g lighter) might be the better bet.

2208/17 might get you there (these are available from Lightflight RC). I run a 9x5 GWS direct drive prop on one on a sport plane and while full throttle bursts are beyond the offical ratings of the motor at 12+A I'm seldom at full throttle for more than a few second and get 25 minute flights out of a 3s 1200 pack.

My application is far different from yours but that's closer to the large diameter prop you're looking for. An APC 10x3.8 SF MIGHT be ok on the motor.
