Hey Buzz, Geeeze, I'm impressed. I'm still stock (motor wise that is) I've added big motors to planes in the past, but my question is: What things do you have to beef up or secure to keep that baby in one piece? i.e. canopy, wheels, wing.....

I know it's way overkill. I also understand some of you don't understand why people like me would want to torture or T28 like this. That's ok I don't understand why you like putting around at 10 mph either. So as far as our differences lets just agree to disagree.

All I can say is I really enjoy it. I have a couple buddies that plan to soup up their's too. We are trying to hit 100mph. I have one that will do somewhere between 70-80mph already and it's a absolute blast. Some of you will think it's nuts to do, some will be interested. For those that are interested I'll do my best to get a video.
For speed, you'd probably be better off with a 10x10 rather than a 12x8 prop.

Also watch out for the 4s battery, I was testing some props with a 3s and 4s battery on an 1100 35-36c yesterday.... it really cranks up the amps.... seems to double the power in my tests !!

10x8 APC-ep pulled (peak) 397W on 3s and 800W on 4s

11x7 APC ep pulled (peak) 463W on the 3s, didn't bother with 4s (even for a couple of seconds)

10x10 APC ep pulled (peak) 505W on the 3s.

My guess is that with 1400kv with 12x8 on the 4s motor you will be pulling 1600+W. So I think you will just be about within spec.... BEST of LUCK.

You may pull the nose or firewall off, so make sure the video is cranked up... should be amazing to see (either way).

Your absolutely right about the prop but, my LHS doesn't carry anything above an 8 pitch so I'm going to use what I have, might go down to an 11x8.

Disclaimer*

The setup I'm going to use is probably one of the best examples of what NOT to do. Certainly a good example the wrong way to configure a proper power system for an airplane and will most likely result in killing my battery and/or ESC even with the 100a ESC I'd be surprised if it doesn't cook.

The motor will be ok. It's damn near impossible to kill a Hyperion motor.

With all that said, I did get to do one flight with it today. I had no one to video it for me but, i did have a keychain cam on it (backwards). The video sucks (to say the least) but, I'll post it if anyone wants to sit through 5 minutes of extremely high wind noise and 2-4 second vertical climbs. 2-5 secs was all I could do in the low light before I'd lose orientation. Torque roll was horrendous.

I'll say this: I don't know how fast it was going but, it was the fastest T28 I've ever seen. Battery seems to have survived, motor came down cool (it's cold here) and the ESC is ok. Next time I'll get better video and see if my FB can video it for me (didn't answer his phone today forgot the super bowl was on, no cable TV for me).

Super crappy video but, I did try!

Turn your volume down!

You can buy props direct from APC and the prices are in line with many LHS.

Yup, roger that. I should have ordered some last week but, I didn't. I'll try a 10x10 next week sometime.

New T-28d owner here. I flew my first two flights with the Trojan today and one thing I notice is a whine coming from what sounds like the servos. That normal?

Whining is normal. I asked the same question myself when I got mine. Congrats on the successful maiden. Ain't this puppy a blast?

PZ T-28 Trojan STOCK swinging GWS 4-Blade!

Took out my old but very reliable PZ T-28 Trojan to the RC CLub today with very windy conditions and it flew majestically with the stock power system and swinging the GWS 4-Blade 10 X 8 X 4 propeller!

Thanks to David (Dwhart24) for these fantastic pictures from his new Digital SLR camera!

Hey Wamsy, what is that an eight foot streamer?? Tell ya what, with a little more #3 you wouldnt need half of #2 and you could cut that streamer right about mid length

I've got a nice DSLR, but it was a choice of either flying the plane and letting my wife take pictures, or the other way around...needless to say the latter option wasn't really an option. LOL
