Blu-Baby Build Log - by Phil
Greetings all, here is my first build of a Blu-Baby. I plan to use it for AP with my newly bought Optio S-10.
The fuse pics are not for the Blu-Baby. I just included those from my unfinished first ever scratch foam build. It's my own creation that was supposed to be a cool looking jet fighter. Question about my KF 50% wing: is it ok for the top skin to curve like this, or should it be absolutely flat? Thanks, Phil

Forgot to mention the dimensions of the wing. Total ws is 53.5", root chord is 11.5", tip chord is 7". This isn't from the plans - it's my own design.
The only depron I had enough of for the main wing portion was 6mm. The top skin is 2mm. Since depron is brittle, to strengthen the wing I plan to use leading edge balsa stock, and probably basswood for the trailing edge. This is in addition to the balsa I have glued to the depon spar. I'll also probably use packing tape on the leading edge, and may also run a strip of tape the length of the wing on the bottom side. |

BP Hobbies Order Placed
Just now ordered the following from BP Hobbies:
BP2217-9 Motor 10x4.7 BP Props 30a BP esc (2) HS-55 Servos 2" Foam Wheels My camera (Optio S-10) arrived today in the mail. Yesterday I added some ribs to my wings and I plan to add the skin this evening. I should have more progress pics posted soon. Phil |

Sorry to end this build log, but I realized I could spend a lot of time making something that probably won't fly as well as I need it to. My scratch building skills are not all that great, especially with my fingers often not cooperating, and my eyes not focusing great up close.
Just now I ordered an EasyStar from Hobby-Lobby International. Phil |
