Haha,
That sounds like some fun Bill.
Can't wait to hear how it goes.
John,The light set is coming along well.
Well, For the first time this spring,I woke up this morning and the house was still warm from yesterday. I had to kick the sheet off me.
Instead of using the airconditioner this year due to rude electricity price rises. Iam considering a misting pedastal fan http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/pedest...urce=catalogue
I saw one in the Bunnings hardware store through the week and might just do it.

Hi Jason,
If it'll work with your humidity, it will save a bunch. They use a lot of misting for outdoor seating at cafes here and it work quite well.

The band is playing, don't need to go to the bar to find that out...we get to hear all the "entertainment" for free...it's a not 100m to the bar.

be back in a little...

regards,
Bill

Off topic video.
Be warned that the cat in the video does swear a bit. He does say a word starting with "F" several times, but it is funny at the same time.

Hi Jason,
That's cute. I get the same reaction from my cats, when a heli comes down....until I light 'er up again. Then run, like their tails are on fire!!

I got the pieces to complete [I hope] the FBL head for the moth. The balls on the 4g3/4g6 control ball have long thread section, so I can make the extended ball ends for the blade grips to temper the cyclic. We'll see. I haven't been thrilled with the results of my FBL experiments.

Did any of you catch "The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear"? I especially enjoyed the news coverage after. They were scratching their collective heads with a "What was that all about"? They didn't quite know what to make of it.
My wife and I enjoyed it.

comments/opinions?

The party was a rippin' success. I made a couple of passes with the ufo, but there were so many people and cars parked around, it wasn't very safe, so I mingled for a few. Breaking a blade didn't help much, either. The band was pretty good. Tonight is the kids night. Hayride and "trick or treaters", I may give the ufo another go.

Elias,
That TT500 [no, not Trophy Trail] looks pretty cool. the size is appealing to these old eyes, the weight and destructive capacity is kinda scary.

regards,
Bill

Hi all,
My over flight of the bar last night didn't go w/o notice. Talked to a few of the people that attended the party. I caught their attention.

I have a canopy for the S moth. Now I gotta figure out a way to mount it.It's too short to make the stock mounts. And misses the "optional" mounts on the front bottom, too. I'm thinking of stretching some wire insulation over a piece of 1mm cf rod and CA that to the elevator servo mount, somewhere. I might have a chance of removing the rod and being able to replace it also, in theory.

Anyone do some pranking?

seems like a bunch with our knowledge of remote control devices, some fairly elaborate fun could be assembled.

regards,
Bill

The hayride and trick or treating was fun. The hayride ended downtown and people that wanted to treat the "kids" went there. They closed off Arivaca Rd for a block of concentrated lollies. This has been done for many years now. With this area being quite rural it works well for those wishing to have a little fun and see everyone. last night was for the adults to be stupid.

Hi Guys,
Bill,I didn't get any pranks in,but Halloween is starting to gather some momentum here now. I bought some bags of chocolates for local kids and they cleaned me out this year. Next year I will need to have more chocolates in stock ready,Or work out a way to scare the kids off my lawn
On another note, I did the test cut of the boom plate for the 4G6 etc and it fits great!
So now I will make a whole heap of them.
Regards Jason

Hi Jason,
That plate is one of those pieces that was just asking to be made. The metal one is silly, excepting the fact they can be made for less than a penny. I bet the screws cost more.
I've cut a couple of half plates, rear only, for the moths. Seem to be pretty solid, in that application. On a full length boom, I think the full plate would be better.

regards,
Bill

I need to go to the post office today. I should have an HP05-2 waiting for me. I'm pretty sure it was there yesterday , but my back decided I was going to take a day in bed dar-dar. Maybe I can get it in the V100 and give Flash's blades a go, too. They look like they were made for this model.
Still thinking about the batt frame/mount on the 2428moth. Working on moving the tail servo more inboard, also. I'm looking at flipping it upside down [from stock], hanging it in the area opposite the aileron servo.

Tipstar has done the servo flip. I have thought about bringing the battery up where the RX is and putting the RX where the Lipo was. By bringing more weight closer and higher on the main shaft. What will happen to the flight characteristics?

Hi Nate,
I tried the batt closer to the rotor plane and seem to remember it nice. Less pendulum, more precise cyclic.

Will a CB100 canopy fit the 4#6?

If the pictures of the Trex 100 aren't a joke, I'm very disappointed. I was hoping for something a lot more than that. Pretty sad offering.

regards,
Bill

I put the HP05-2 in the V100....I like it. I can say, I like this heli, excepting the delay "feature", still bothers me. It's no problem on a controlled landing, the chicken dance in unscheduled landings does though.

Bought US$30 worth of parts from CJ today.... and it cost me $30.91 Aus. It's now so close to being 1:1 after conversion fees!

Making me wish I'd left more than $500 in a bank there. It was ~0.90AUD: 1.00 USD when I was visiting... I was happy to get the 5% interest.

Bill

I was watching a show on the "Ten Best Helicopters" on the tube...was interested to find that the Chinook will outrun most of its escorts. 160mph cruise. WOW!

Hi all,
I [more or less] installed the canopy on the S moth, I still need to locate it on the batt frame.....here's a couple of pictures. And, no, I didn't paint the canopy to match. It came to me that color. One of those things that came in the package with the CF blades. There's a TurboAce 10300kv inrunner, also to keep the walkera inrunners company in the drawer..

regards,
Bill

John,
If I send these, plus top view, will they work for you? The l/g are subject to change....oh, Jason!!!!!

Hi all

Well, today is Guy Fawkes Day, so you all know what that means!? It's an anniversary for me and the wife. The wife says 4yr, I have to agree, but honestly don't know....so she's right. That's awful, isn't it? She was asking if it still felt like new or if it feels like forever....I said, yes. Every day new, with an old friend. Did I dodge a bullet?

regards,
Bill

Hi guys,

Bill...tricky one...answer is ever changing.

In relation to 'ween pranks. Many years ago, and I realise the outcome now, but a friend and I were told we were too old for Halloween. The guy requested trick. We were 15.

Okey-dokey....trick eh....we proceeded to his fuse box and well.....placed all the ceramic fuse holders in our bad and preceeded down the road. I now understand the repercussions of this decision and with an older head...regret it...but if I overlook all that "life stuff" it was a pretty good trick at the time.
