Trying to find some ESC's so I can do that last test. If that doesn't work, then I'm gonna find a really tall cliff and just jump off it.

Landing will be less painful than trying to keep a Quad flying.

I'm not teasing. Quads are a pain. I could have built three FPV Deep Reapers for the price I've spent on this one quad.

Unfortunately, if you wanna to Aerial Video work, clients are really only interested in multi-rotor footage. It's sort of a necessary evil. It's kind of hard to hover a Deep Reaper in a lobby, or garden, or anywhere really... unless you've got a wicked strong head-wind, then you're getting crap video anyway.

I can't imagine the anxiety and difficulty that professional AP guys deal with on their $10,000 ships. I get heart-burn with a $1,000 bird.

I've found out how difficult it can be to balance a prop 3 dimensionally.

I spent over an hour on one prop the other night. I was up until 3am, and had half of them done.

I got rid of most of the vibration, but I still need to go back and rebalance them.

Ya, I had one of those late nights staying up till 3am balancing....only to go out and break one of the props in a test flight......and then eventually break all the props after some time. oh well, just the nature of the beast.

But sense we are on the quad subject....I recently got a new quad built up and am having heat issues with the motors/ESCs.
I have these motors

and these ESC's

So far I have tried 10x4.5, 11x4.5, and 12x3.8 props. The motors and ESCs get hot on the 10" and 12" on both 3s and 4s batteries. The 11" seemed ok, but I broke a one of them and couldn't continue testing.
So my question is, what would be the best prop to use on these motors and should I use a 4s or 3s battery?

Oh and this is going to be my FPV quad with a gopro and stuff so it's got to be able to handle some weight. (did I just get the wrong motors?)

If you're flying 4S, a 9" is probably as big as you'll want to go. It seems like a 10" or 11" on 3S should be fine with those motors/ESC's. My gear gets pretty hot on 10", but I'm on 920kv motors. That's why I fly 9" props on 3S.

11" or 12" props are a bad idea on a small quad. They vibrate more and are harder to balance.

Well the quad isn't really small....it flies really good on the 12" props with 3s, just heats things up. It could just be the 10" props I have are just to flimsy. I will see if I can stop by your place on Fri. and maybe we can try a few different prop sizes on it.

That's a sweet Quad. Anxious to see it fly. Can't believe he abandoned that project. The market's getting pretty competitive I guess.
