5 gram or 10 gram Brushless Post your Model Picture thread

I got this idea from Michael (epilot). He was commenting in another thread on how with these small motors he hasn't seen alot of models out there under 100g. I figure they're out there but scattered around in different threads, or perhaps not posted. I thought it would be fun to get everyone to show off their indoor/micro models that use these motors.

So post any pics and info on any model your using a 5g or 10g brushless UH or 2dogrc of other manufacturer.

I'll start...from the scratchbuilt thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710077 There is also a 5g version for the sumo by Firetrappe that weighs in at 47g auw.

Heres my micro sumo...

I used 3mm depron, no rigging just some small depron blocks for support and a carbon spar for the wing. Tape on the wing for damage control.

1x 1811-2000 motor https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...idProduct=5358
1x gws 7035 prop
1x BA 3.6 servo (for ailerons...i was afraid 2.5's wouldnt have enuff torque)
2x Ba 2.5 servo
1x BA 6amp speed controller https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...idProduct=5531
1x BA rx small jst plug type http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...11&pid=V768578
1x Polyquest 300mah

+ various control horns, .032 metal control rod, ezconnectors and a 1/16" carbon spar. Motor mount's a small disk from a cd blank epoxied into the cavity.

Auw is about 98 grams or 3.45 oz. Its now heavier with all the repairs!

Thank you firetrappe for this great thread...i have been looking for something in this size range for the driveway and backyard. The control response is amazing. I can get flat 2' turns and 2' loops if i want to.

Here is the Vid on 3 cells, on a 5030 prop. I now use the 6030 prop for both 2 cell and 3 cells.

F22 park jet

WS - 16"
Length - 23"
Motor - UH 10g 2000kv motor
Battery - 500mah 2S
speed controller - 6amp
Servo - UH 5g
AUW 100g
Prop - 6x3

Made this one out of stripped foam core board and some epp from packaging material. It seems like a nice combination but I was feeling very anxious after a long winter and took it out in 20kph gusty winds.

One gust caught it and directed it nose downward into the ground. The damage was caused by the airframe flexing and the prop taking a chunk out of the foam board. The epp did it's job and bounced back. Some hot glue should do the trick.

Do you think the 5gr would work with the FIK 40?

Your thoughts please?

In the interest of keeping like with like I copied these from my post on 5g motor thread:
My ULT with 5g BL weighs 60g and is 300 (PNut size), BA 3.6g servos on A and E, Pent 6 ESC, all 2mm depron from Micro Ult plans on another thread.

Brown Lit Gem has been posted previosly, same weight and gear but 375mm span.

The 4ch profile model is 17 in span and weighed 65 g with similar gear, but has now been converted to the 10g motor for zippy 3D capable performance and weighs 75g.

My humble offering is a delta powered by the 5 gm UH motor that has given me good service. My learning progress in RC has been from indoor micro to outdoor parkflyer size models (the reverse I suppose of most modellers) and this is the first that I have ever managed to loop! Span is 40 cm, Length 34 cm, weight about 70 grams. Wing is 3 mm Depron, flat surface. The nose has a plate of 1/64" ply underneath and a plug made of EPP foam. Both have helped with my many less-than-perfect arrivals. Battery is a 2s 135 mah or 180 mah cells and the usual 6 gm ESC. The 5 gram motors are great, as long as you treat them carefully. I managed to mangle one by pulling out the wiring. My friend and I are dreaming of building Twinkle-type flying boats based using the motor.
Peter

ps Nice models as usual Phil. I was tempted to make a Depron version of your P-Nuts. I still have the plan you sent to me in 1991!

I removed the heatshrink and the motor wires (soldered the motor directly to the ESC) excanged the battery wires for thinner ones and the rx cable and plug for a much tinier Falcon one.

Remove the shrink wrap and replace the wires with lighter versions. I got mine down to about 3.3g.
