Hops, the "Garden of England," Kent, is where hops were grown when I was a kid. I'm not sure if they are still grown there however. There are many, many pubs in England (DUH), and in Kent they have local breweries so I'm sure they still grow them there.
I remember as a kid, some Londoners (Cockneys) would go on holiday for a week hop picking. Whole families would go. Kind of a working holiday. I never did it, but I knew people that did and loved it. There's lots of rivers in Kent too, so fishing would certainly have been part of the holiday.

Yeah, Keith, we're all positive you never went "hops hunting" when you lived in the UK............. and certainly never paid attention to any of the pubs.
