Rack in' frackin' plastic servo teeth.... Last weekend I was test-tossing the BoT, and had a small ground loop. I mean it was tiny, just a little sideways skid. Well, last night I was looking at the fuse and I moved the rudder, and it had a hitch. I grabbed the servo arm and gave it a test wiggle --- ayup, busted teeth. Grrr! I just got back from the LHS with replacement gears, grease, and a new METAL toothed mini servo. Take that, stupid grass.

As for rebuilding the other one, well, if I can build a surgical robot arm I should be able to rebuild a servo no problem. The fun part will be finding the stupid lost teeth in the servo case somewhere. Can't have those rattling around!

LOL, I know what you mean, somedays the ONLY one that I trust is my dog.

Woody,
* trusting that there is dog poop somewhere in the house when he gets home from work! " HEY, Who did THIS? HUH? Did you do this?".... he seems to look at me as if to say, someone musta snuck in here and left that here? Wasn't me...

I need some woody engineering help.

I have drawn up and prototyped a custom flight box, just the way I like it, but I lack the skills yet to cut the wood accurately enough to build it. Oh, I have a table saw, a nice one, but I don't have the time or brass ones to use it, not on this project.

I am looking for someone with either a better hand at cutting, or someone willing to CAD it out and laser cut the pieces. I propose payment to be your own fully assembled and finished flight box; I'll even pay the wood on both, but I am happy to negotiate. After I assemble the first and make sure my latest modifications are correct, which I'm sure they are.

I have a set of five pages of beautifully drawn prints of the flight box, as well as 2 dimensional outlines of each piece needed.

Here is the first prototype, made of paper backed foam. Never mind the poor fit of some of the pieces, or the missing fronts on two drawers. I saw the fit issues and stopped to save glue. The issues have been fixed on the 2-D outlines. The box is drawn to use 1/4" wood. It can be cheap ply, I'm going to cover or paint mine anyways. The handle is actually a wood dowel, sitting right next to the computer. There is a 1" high wall all around the top of the box. That is for setting tools and plane parts as you work on whatever is sitting in the cradle. In the picture, one side is missing. Again, I just didn't care to finish it.

ETA: Come to think of it, I *can* draw up a battery pocket on the side. Let me get this version, X02, fixed up and working, and then I'll do a rev. X03 with battery pocket. I'll need the dimensions of common batteries that go into the pockets on other flight boxes.

It's 16" wide by 10" deep, and the whole thing is about 13 1/2" tall.

Big enough to be stable while holding up a plane and to hold all the necessary spare parts and adhesives, but not big enough to fit a kitchen sink.
