The more I can get shaved off the purchase price, the more I'll have for improvements like a nice flying field and shop building
Fingers crossed!!!

Ahhhh, the thing about our area is that after about noon the winds start to pick up. So around lunchtime, when the winch battery poops out, we all pack up and head to lunch.

Shucks! If only it were a different weekend, we'd meet at the local slope. But we're gonna be an hour south of our normal haunts at the contest.

Either works for me. I'll be at VMWorld, Moscone Center about 20 miles south of SFO. I'm going to be there through Friday noon anyhow so I could probably manage to cut out a few hours in the AM on Sunday. You can only handle so many vendors for so long before you go bug-nuts.

I thought the Moscone Center was in SF proper, north of SFO. It's the place with a Fiat 124 flattened and pasted to the outside of the parking garage.

Whenever you want to split, I'll send you my phone # and the address to the place in Hollister (just in case). I'll have a GL handy.

Have a cold one on me Boingk. Enjoy your winter mate, it's been hot as can be in this hemisphere. If I make it to our DC in Sydney or Canberra I'll look you up.
Look me up for sure mate, that'd be fine. Shoot me a PM or something if you do make it and I'll gladly show you the local flying localles.

Wow, that sounds a bit hectic... 200hrs in 20 days? Worst I've had so far was university where we had one assignment moved forward and another back so they were both due very close together. Most applied for extensions but I figured if I could stay up for 3 days I could get them both done.

I woke up Monday at 8am and went to sleep after submitting both on the Wednesday sometime after midday. The intervening hours were filled with typing, writing, reading and not much else. Pretty average conditions but very satisfying.

Work takes a close second, when I did a 3pm to 4am shift. I was then woken at 8:30am to be 'asked' if I could do the 10am opening shift... I told them that I'd be there but they'd better be making it worth my while. To their credit they did

Anyway, work aside, I am actually enjoying a cold one right now. A patron (a well regarded one but kinda drunk) had a go at me this evening, so I politely told him that I was the guy who'd been serving him and that I could be somewhat less hospitable in future should he continue. He gave a rude answer to the effect of 'So what?' - so I told him to suck it and see!

A few minutes later the owner escorted them out of the place, then thanked me for the night, and I drove home with a grin and two beers. Gotta love closing time haha.

Anywho, sorry for the rant... just felt like (needed?) it I guess.

Back on topic - restarting work on my flying wing glider! Can't wait to maiden her.

Cheers - boingk

Boingk,

Yup, everyone needs to vent some time. Longest single work day I had was 46 hours. 19:00 on Sunday through 17:00 on Tuesday. Drove home (32 miles) had some dinner passed out for about six hours and some poor soul in our Customer Support group decided it would be a good time to wake me up around 02:00. That was in the midst of the dot Com days. I know there are many with stories worse than mine but that was my longest day.

Sounds like that jackwagon in the bar was a full blown 100% tool.

Looking forward to dinner with LSP and her hubby tomorrow night. Taking my AMA card with me just in case I can get away on Sunday AM.

Katie,

I see your going to be comming to our CVRC October Fest. Great!

I'll look you up,looking forward to meeting you.

I haven't deceided whether to fly in the ALES event or not. I just broke one of my favorite ALES Planes, when the wing hold down screws pulled out at 400 feet and the wing fluttered down while the fuselage came down like a missle. It was a classic yard dart from 400 ft.

I might bring out Checkers (my Oly III) if I get the new Speed control installed and get some landing practice in.

I'll probably be working the winch and maybe the landing scores.

Yeppers! I don't expect too many female pilots there, though I hope to see some! You should have too much trouble finding me.

I can't wait!

Nice looking Oly III Eddie! Should be easy to see at altitude. I might have to "borrow" the covering design on a future build.

Scaflock,no problem,I'm glad you like it.Yes,it shows up pretty good, and I can always tell which one is mine as well as which is left an right

I hope you are able to get the property your looking at.

Katie,

You will love it. It's a great event. We had I think 250 pilots last year from all over the USA as well as other parts of the world. And this year will be our first ALES event on Friday.

I think there were a couple girls flying last year.

Talk to Al,he'll tell you everything you need to know about it.

Wow, just found out myself. What a life he lead.

Pretty much everything is appropriate on this thread as long as it doesn't break site rules..............and we've pushed that a few times too.

Hi Mr. Bot, I didn't know this, so thanks for the heads up. He was an engaging man to listen to.

Onya Jeff, onya Katie.onya everyone, appreciate reading your rc stories here on RCG, !can't wait to fly and build again.. but gotta work here first, getting 45 hour working weeks. As for wages here, an adult worker at macca's earns $21/hour.

A quote from Neil Armstrong; "Gliders, sail planes, they're wonderful flying machines. It's the closest you can come to being a bird."
