Yeah I'd leave as is and fly it before you even consider making changes.

One thing I've learnt in this hobby is not to mess with things that fly well.

I've flown BOTs with too little poly but have never seen one with too much.

What would happen if you make a gull wing BoT? I suppose ailerons would be needed. I'm tempted to try! Maybe a miniature chuck glider of each, original and gull wing, first.

I gotta get going on mine! But first, finish my other projects. I made a surprise discovery the other day: I have enough servos to fly the Spirit. Woot! The wing four are installed, and the fuse two. I just need to make the control rods, install receiver and battery, finish doping, and install control surfaces. It's almost finished! *relieved sigh*

I'm planning on keeping the center joint stock-ish on my BoT but increasing the mid-panel dihedral. I need to spend some quality time with the EDA spreadsheet and some paper sketches before I start cutting wood.

Something Old and Something Old

Here's a pic of the ribs I had custom cut for a Wanderer 99 I'm going to scratch build. They have turned out far better than I ever thought. Will have to wait untill the end of the month before I start the W99, currently have a Skybench Paragon on the board.

Kinda cool thermal story. I've seen this a lot before but today was funny.

Great weather today, dark fluffy clouds popping up and you could feel the thermals dancing around. (I had to ride a tractor all day).

Boss had to fly up to another airport about 60 miles away and took the Citabria. I was watching for his return since I was running up and down the runway. Thermals all over. Hadn't seen a bird flap a wing since 8:30 this morning. And there were birds everywhere. I got fixated on a couple of buzzards that got lift at about 50' AGL and they were climbing like they had rockets strapped to their butts, following the column downwind. I saw the boss coming into the pattern at about 200' and the buzzards were at about 600'. He happened to fly directly under them and you could see the bounce. Looked like he hit a speed bump. When he landed he commented about how rough it was. I told him about his treading on the buzzards territory. He replied "Yep, good day to throw out the winch". And we did.

Nuff said.

Thank you. Playing is what I'm best at.

I was going to fly this morning but it's raining HARD and won't be letting up anytime today. Not gonna complain, this place was turning into a dust bowl. Upside to that: Only have to mow my yard every two weeks instead of thrice weekly. Oh well, guess I can get to building.

Wonder how Steve is doing?

Ditto for Jeff (Scaflock)?

And NightOwl?

Bird of Time and a Half session 2 (7 min 18 sec)

It would look a bit like this!

As long as the equivalent dihedral angle is at least about 8-10 degrees per side, roll control should still be adequate without ailerons. However, you will probably have to juggle the dihedral, fin+rudder area and the tail moment arm to get the spiral stability and dutch roll balance correct. Better plan on going through several rounds of modifications, maybe even buiding two or three, before you get everything "dialed in" just right.

Hi DW

Was looking in on the new Eagles and they are sure big now, feeding on their own once a fish etc.is brought to the nest so it looks like they wiil be on their own pretty quick.

Had to put the Primary glider on the back burner to get my new 5 minute long DVD made for the ' Engineered Art ' sculptures the video shop needs to tune it up so it looks better on a big screen tv like it plays on the pc and i will be a happy camper.

What is on your building board, the Oly ready to fly again?

G Don

Mmmm-mm! That's about what I was picturing. I can make a gull-wing for the BoT, once I get going on it. I'll make sure to cut enough ribs for a few tries.

Hi G Don!

Yes, the eaglets are in full swing, no stopping them now. I would be interested in seeing your video, please post us a link. No real building going on for me as I've been very busy with family stuff and working with Dell corporate to sign them up as a referral partner for their customers data recovery requirements, gonna be a super boost for our company. No flying, no building just have-to stuff for right now....kinda depressing actually .
