COOL!!! I'm glad he's up and around already. I thought he was scheduled for surgery today. I was going to try to come Sunday and see him...

Maybe the Leatherman thing made him get high behind and get it over with...

Jack, no doubt that he wanted to get over it as he was pretty much hobbled by pain the last few weeks and that finally overcame the fear of needles and knives.

Its taken awhile for him to get over the effects of the anesthesia or he probably would have been out yesterday. Give him a call Saturday and see if he's up for visitors.

Thanks for the great news, David, the old poot told me it was today . That anesthesia can really put it on someone that has been in pain for a while. Their body gets a chance to really relax and catch up on needed rest. He'll be good as new real soon, I just know it.

Allow me to echo Don and say thanks for passing on the good news, Davey. Let him know we all hope he gets all the relief he had hoped for from the procedure and mends quickly.

Gerald,

Very glad to hear your on your feet ........ Please give us a post when you can to let us know all went well for you.

Don,

Yes on the list of mods for the Merlyn, it will be in the kit, AMA magazine article instructions are included with their plans. I have to figure out what went wrong copying the instruction article to my web. Doesn't look readable on on puter.

Yup, the res isn't quite there but I was able to read the entire article. It's a lot of plane to build but I think I can do it .

Hey guys!
Thanks for the get well wishes.
Made a turn around in the recovery bit. Now walking a block twice a day and my system is getting there. Doc says about 4 months for a good recovery period to get the new cadaver bone structure to growing. I think I will be able to get back to the shop and do some repair work on my fleet in about a month.
Gonna give the LB2 another go.

Don
That Merlyn sounds like a whopper project. Knowing what Ray intends for his kits that one should be a real gas bag....just float all day in the Texas skies!!
Your family life getting straightened out? Last I remember your Mom was having some difficulty.

Steve
Good to hear from you, pard. Gone to work yet?

Well... I'm glad to see G-man back on the board. Got the first part of my move paperwork today. Believe it or not, the company wants to appraise my house before they tell me if I'm moving or not... ... during the Holidays... ... while I have just been given someone's project to finish by the end of the year... ...

Oh well... at least I'm employed...

Speaking of employment I have begun to do some rounds and have some appointments next Monday, but much of this week has been spent getting my affairs in order and some socialising and astronomy with an astro pal.

Great to hear you are in pretty good spirits Mr. G, you must be feeling on the up to be contemplating an JDLB2 ressurection, that's the sort of news we like.

I read Owl has been on his back lately after trying to part muscle from bone recently, mate that has to hurt like hell, take care and get better Owl.

Anyhow, my pedalling has come to an end for a bit while I try to earn some dough, you don't go far without it these days.

Don must have given that OIII a hand toss trim test by now... :P

Thanks, Steve.

Yeah, this gettin' old sucks. I've suffered from inexplicable muscle spasms all my life. When I was a kid, I would wake up with my neck so frozen I couldn't lift my head up to get out of bed. (My poor grandmother called the doctor I don't know how many times, worried that I had polio.) My legs used to ache something terrible, too, and there has always been some question of whether or not I had rheumatic fever that didn't get diagnosed.

This one was about like gettin' a steel rod run through my upper chest and pulled sideways. Bad enough that, like I said elsewhere, the doc thought I'd tried to "loosen" a rib or two. Worst part is, I can't even identify the "move" that caused it. It just happened. *shrugs* Like I told the guys over in the slope columns, a couple days, I'll be ornery as ever.

Appreciate the well wishes!

Gerald, we're all glad to hear you're up and around so soon, and doing well! Best wishes for a miraculously speedy recovery!

Man that sucks! I guess that means that if the Clovis economy has not reduced your home value to diddly then they won't buy your house and move you. The addition of finishing up someone else's job is a downer too. But, like you say, you're employed.

Owl
Just thinking about the pulled ribs hurts like a sumbitch. Been there with bruised ribs but not pulled.....Wow. Hang in there.

Steve
Excellent pic. You look mighty healthy. Good luck on the interviews.

Owl-
Didn't know you were down and out too! Hate to hear it. Crap, we're all falling apart here. Time to get on the up swing .

Mr.G-
Sounds like you'll be good as new shortly, just take it real easy. Thanks for asking about mom, she's hanging in there and getting more mobile every day.

Jack-
That sucks but it's the way of business this day and time. One goal, what is most economical for the company, employees are pawns in this economy. Like you say, still got a job. That's the way I feel even after my drastic pay cut.

Steve-
Looking good there buddy. Yup, cash makes the world go round and is required even while traveling on the cheap. Starting to cover my wangs, no toss yet.

What factors make a good woody contest?

What factors would entice you to participate in a wood sailplane event in the Seattle area during the 2011 flying season?

I have not yet made firm plans; just looking for feedback.

Format would include: basic wood construction, thermal duration, RC sailplanes. Winch or hi-start launch; no electric launch, hand launch or aero tow. Probably have an easy-going competition that stresses flying over landing. Also would try to promote a fly-in social atmosphere for the non-competitive types.

What features of such an event would make it a particularly good time for you (competition, laid back fun, awards, etc) to the point that you would travel to Seattle to participate?

What would discourage you from participating?

Thanks for responding or sending me an e-mail.
