Worst case scenario, you might be able to pick up JetA at the local field for 4 bucks a gallon. Or less. If you get to know the fuelers... they have to purge the fuel trucks every so often. The fuel that is tested and purged - and it's a lot of it on occasion as far as what a P-70 can burn in a year - has to be recycled and it costs them money to do so. It's perfectly good fuel. If you give them a few 5 gallon drums you might be able to get it for "cheap", as in the cost of a few cups of fancy coffee for the boys.

I still think you could get it down to 3 to 4 bucks a flight if you bought JetA by the gallon in an expensive area. But even if turbine were to be cheaper than big EDF it doesn't necessarily mean it's better to fly turbine. Big EDF is fun, and it's still a mental challenge in a good way. And it's the happening place to be for those that like to push the limits forward on technology.

I would guess about 160 to 170mph on the F-16, the F-100 we are still waiting for Ken to deliver them. John |

I'd guess that Ken's K&A F-100 will be a 90-130mph airplane depending upon power system. 3D???......Jets??? That's like putting a ballerina costume on a Kentucky Derby horse and wanting it to dance There are some big$$$ turbines with vectored thrust that do that though. ..........I fly jets that fly like a jet............ -Mike |

Dont forget that you cant fly turbine at all fields..We only have three that I know of in socal..So you can factor in drive time to get to one I can fly at..So now there is the 4 bucks a gallon for car fuel to get there..I have to drive an extra 1/2 hour to fly my turbine power jets..
