No. The bolt on prop adapter is threaded. It bolts on to the front (back?) of the motor.

I, for one, absolutely hate collets. They suck.

Agreed!

I have had more then plenty collets fly off the plane. The worst was during a watts check in my hobby room. Thankfully the prop just popped didn't hit anything.. could have been bad!!!

FYI the Super Aspera (1300W) uses a collet. My Fokker DR1 with an AXI 4130 and an 18X10 uses a collet. My H9 P-51 with an AXI 4130 uses a collet. I have never lost a prop to a collet until I blendered the Velox.
I think the relatively large prop size and high G loadings have a lot to do with it.

Feather,

I never had a problem until the Hacker A60, which is a poor design imho, but I do not see any reason to use this system if there is an option.

On a design without a collet, you will simpy loose all power if the prop comes loose, and all parts will still be attached after the deadstick landing.

The most "flimsy" (Is that a word?) design I've seen so far is the all threaded design of the MotrolFly 2820-950. No collet, but it is just begging for a bent shaft.

In my old job working on real airplanes, I was a fan of the things that was built for purpose, but in this game, it needs to be designed for some abuse as well.

An example from my days in the avionics workshop is the pilot who complained to me on the reliabillity of the flight management computer in the Boing 737. I had to tell him that the design engineers probably did not account for the ammount of coffee spilled into it on a regular basis.

My point is, model airplane designs should handle some "coffee" to be considdered "purpose built".

Which is why I love 3DH planes. They have a lot of "coffee" factor built into the design .
