Steve when I go visit my daughter I fly at Rancho San Antonio Park. Near the 280 and 85 intersection. Wild turkeys are in the parking area at dawn! If it's not too far give it a look. HAVE FUN!

I have flown there many times.....There have recently been a lot of rules set in place....

Planes can weigh no more than five pounds
Planes can't go over 50mph
No more than five pilots at one time
AMA now required
No helicopter/quads
No "Zaggi" wings, or other pushers due to new noise restrictions
I believe no FPV, and a few others a good friend of mine told be about, but I don't remember for sure...

And a few others. they are also moving the flight line down towards the big trash container, which is really going to restrict the landing run off area....

Hopefully, none of these will effect you....

Wow... so small slow planes. 50mph is a pretty low speed restriction. Sounds like a "fun cub" only type of field.

Finally got my MB repaired again. I epoxied it this time so it should be NICE and sturdy. I found some 5 minute epoxy gel that states it's a good gap filler. That's exactly what I need because where the motorbox broke is a tough spot to repair. I hope this does the trick. It will be done curing in about 30 minutes and I will wring it out in about an hour.

Well...some pretty decent 3D can be flown without going over 50MPH....the problem is, it's in a park which is adjacent to a pretty nice neighborhood that has at least one "old biddy" that doesn't like the sound of the high pitch pusher props.....

Also....five pounds is 80 ounces....any of the 57-58-59" 3DHS planes come out a lot less than 80 ounces.....

Oh...and no EDF's for the same reason.....(high pitch)

we're losing flying sites left and right here in California, noise, liability, environmental concerns and now privacy and security with the FPV

Why environmental concerns? that does not make much sense, around here nobody give two hoots about the environment being affected by rc planes.

Yes....fortunately where the club where I fly is about halfway between San Jose, and Morgan Hill about a 1/2 mile off of Monterrey Highway, so is kind of out in the boonies...

LOL! I forgot my camera but I can see that my motorbox held up just fine. I found a few more loose spots when I got home so I buttoned those up and now I should be good to go.

This motrofly motor seems great. Love the power. I'm running a 15x6 prop and it seems OK. I think I'll drop to a 14x7 and see what I think. I find that I'm having to work more for hovers than I did with the hacker and 15x6 prop. Can't quite put my finger on why though. I know that if I drop down to the 14x7 that it should theoretically be even more difficult but we'll see.

You don't live in California

wildlife sanctuaries, bird migration patterns, wildlife displacement, smog (a nitro plane puts out more smog in one flight than a new honda does in ???) and a big one, fire hazard

Thinking of moving just so I can fly..............what is the best state for flying?

I'm starting to think you might be right, only thing I can't complain about here is the weather, I generally get to fly 3-5 days a week, 52 weeks a year

Warning, rant mode on!

Having been born and raised in CA, the only thing I can say is the best day of my life was when I moved away from that state. Too many rules, too many people, too much traffic, too much fiscal irresponsibility, too much of a nanny state. Great weather, though! Just not worth putting up with the rest of it.

Rant off, I'm going flying now...batts are recharged from this morning.
