How long of a build do you expect it to be (after it's kitted)? Curious what unlucky sap I could talk into building a kit for me for a fee.

i always got a kick out of the reaction of people when C/N told them it was made of depron ...then they would lift it up and be like man that is light. course now it will be another pound or so of batts, motors and fiber glass.but still light and it was a floater anyway

what???
$200 more.... you mean $700.
...kidding? right!!!

no way, I would rather get the
Tamjets' 1:12 Scale composite EDF F-16
for $495, $5 less than $500.
And Yes, it is composite material, not depron

Specification:
Lenght: 54"
Wingspan: 42"
Weight: 8 to 8.75 lbs

Yes, Fan unit: DS-51 90mm
Motor: NueMotor 1515 1.5Y, 1515 3D and 1515 2Y
ESC: CastleCreations HV85, Jetti plus 90 or Jetti Spin 77
Lipo: 8s to 10s 3700mAh and 12s set up only
use with 1515 2Y motor

And This animal naturally get up there at 175mph-200mph
depends on how you cheat with tail wind.

Well, second thought,
Maybe depron is better material than composite

I'd rather have C/N's. Especially since Tamjets doesn't make an F-5, so it's kind of pointless to compare price and size in this thread.

how much are those 8s,10s,12s batts lets face it the bigger and faster you go the more it cost.those nue's are'nt cheap either,so yeah it would be hard to compare...the biggest thing is you build it your self. so this plane is'nt for every body..so you wont see tons of them at the field ...i guess a little bit of ego goes with this one....right now Bmiller is the lucky owner of MKI

with this kind of time, work and labor on your
F-5E, my hat is off for you and am looking forward to
seeing the outcome.

Well, you never know if I would ask you one for myself.
I especially love the truly scale looking F-5E MK.1 of yours.

It would not hurt to have another great F 5E

Hey Dope'ler,

How about you go and buy one from Feibao and start a build thread so that you might actually contribute somthing posative to this forum?

Theres pluses and minuses to foam vs fiberglass.
Can be flown in a much smaller area.
Glides far better, lands much slower, takes off and lands in a shorter distance.
The lightweight is easier on all the equipment, retracts and such.
Can flown using much cheaper battery packs, fans, motors and ESCs because of the lightweight.
Weaknesses- Hanger rash, this is actually a serious topic on large planes, foam dents easily and instantly. Not as strongly built for high speeds, G-forces and longterm use(years)vs fiberglass.
A Tams F-16 is $495, powersystem $800, lipos $400, retracts $200. Lands fast since its heavy, you need a paved 600ft runway for consistantly safe landings and 300ft for safe takeoffs. And you better be a good pilot. Also cheaping out on the components will most likely end in disaster.
A huge foam twin70mm faned F-5 will cost considerably less, is far easier to fly and can be flown from less than ideal fields.

Hey Bob,
Did I get the deal of the century or what!
