1.5mm rod will do fine for the gear on a plane around 100g to 130g. It's 44% lighter than 2mm rod and cheaper and lighter than 2mm tube. That's what I've used on all my Indices.

I used 1,5mm rods in my AM plane and they weren't stiff enough although I have done mostly soft landings. That's why I moved to 2mm rods.

I've had no problems at all with the 1.5mm rod but it will also depend on the shape of the installation. Undercarriage legs that are mounted at a shallow angle will tend to be longer and will also be subject to higher bending forces.
