I used QCad. Great simple 2D drawing program, and I export all my plans to PDF using CutePDF.

@Larryross: Sir! Your B17 is taking its shape in my computer. Here are photos of my progress in this project. Fuselage is almost done. Engine Nacelles and Wing remaining. Hope it fits your expectations...

@Other members: The .pdf files coming soon.
The dimensions would be as follows:

Wing Span: 60"
Wing Area: 468 sq. Inch
Length: ~45"
AUW: Can't tell you exactly...
The plan would be mostly 5~6mm Depron foam based.

I will upload the plans in ".pdf" format once I am done.

Painting
Built my two scratch built F-16 and F-22 out of
OWENS CORNING FOAMULAR [pink foam]. I understand it is the same as their BLUE FOAM.
Does anyone know of a paint that can be used to paint these planes. I have tried the
KRYLON. It does not work
You all will make fun of me if I am flying a PINK fighter jet.

I paint all of my jets with regular old Testors spray paint. It comes in military colors, and I've used it on everything but the pink foam without issue.

Krylon H20 paints work great. They are water based and won't melt the foam.

Don't mind the pink, real men can fly pink, lol.

I am being told that Lowes [BLUE FOAM] is the same stuff.
OWENS CORNING. -- FOAMULAR in the Pink, Not sure what it is in the Blue.
Home Depot should be able to order some in for you. BUT. do not know if they would order any in under a FULL PALLET .
Have you talked to their staff. I would think the 1/2 in. , they would keep on hand at all times.

I have an idea that my students might be able to make a glider or even design one. Anyone have a good tutorial? I have heard there is a free cad and Google SU. I looked at Google and realized I need some help. Referral to a SIMPLE link is good too.

Thanks

Rick

SARG5 here
Had my RV in for repair at the NuWa RV factory in Chenute, Ks. this past few days. While there saw stacks of BLUE FOAM that they use inside their walls RV construction.
Talked to their eng. dept. They use this foam because of strength and dense.
STYROFOAM
Panel Core 20 Insulation
Extruded Polystyrene Foam
DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY

www.dowbuildingsolutions.com 1-989-636-4400
Do not have a clue at this point in time. I picked up a sheet of their 3/4 in. and some scraps to play with.
This stuff looks VERY STRONG, Much more then the pink or blue foam from local lumber yard.
As we speak I have a message in to DOW to see if they want to play with us RC builders.
side note
I would think that any of us could check with any of our local RV Dealers, or RV repair locations. I would think that many would use a much better foam then the lumber yard.
However NuWa folks said they were about the only one in the ind. that used this more expensive foam in their build.
I also picked up qt. of the glue they use in const.
PASSING THIS ON FOR YOU BUILDERS TO LOOK AT.
Will be testing .
