Weatherstation down on the frontage-road right between the north/southside slopes;
http://raws.wrh.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/rom...t=0&time=LOCAL Add at least 50% for windspeed up top! Been chilly for a couple days, but Fri/Sat are looking really nice; http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/laun...=KSLC&state=UT -Tauno |

You bet! The first link gives real time wind about .75 mile from POM at ground level. On Monday it was reading 24-29--and was blowing 40+ up above. So the point is no matter what this is reading, from the SOUTH, add to it for what it is doing on the slope.
http://www.met.utah.edu/cgi-bin/drom....cgi?stn=UTALP The next one gives a view and current conditions http://commuterlink.utah.gov/ie.htm Use camera 285 Here is the NOAA Link for POM http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/Map...x=124&map.y=30 Remember to add some for up on the Mtn. You are looking for South South East winds. Thanks |

Here is a wind map of the valley I find myself looking at a lot.
http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/mwmap.php?map=slc If you look for the weather station on the right when driving to the south side from the north you will know where UTALP is. On the map it is just off the left corner of that little blue window, my cursor did not show up in the screen shot. It should also be mentioned that when the wind is from the north there is a DS spot up on the back hill but you have to hike to it. |
