That's great news Tom. I can't wait to get one of these little beauties. I just looked at my logbooks to get the N number of the one I used to fly, and she is now located in Florida and still going strong. I would be curious to know how many hours are on the airframe now.

Well Guys,

This Tomahawk was the first airplane I designed. I wanted one so bad I went through the effort to cad it up six years ago. I have since caded a few airplanes, and have learned a lot. Fortunately, I have also learn to do some basic 3D Cad to check the work. This bird has been a lot more work than I have expected., and that is why I have put it off. The good news is I am almost done with the plans, very few changes left to do. The third Tomahawk should be starting the build soon. The second quite did not make its final assembly. Anyway, here is some eye candy. I have reworked about four bulkheads. I am pleased how they are turning out. However, we will see how good my work really is...

I was hoping to have the plans wrapped up today but it did not happen. Good news I am very close and worked out just about all the bugs in Cad. I was able to get the stringers lined up and did a lot of work on the front end and canopy. The next set of builds will be a lot less work. I am glad I have done this for the day, I decide to build one. Here are some more pics.

Enjoy,

Tom

I did not get much accomplished today, as I spent the day in Dayton, OH at the Air Force Museum. In the morning, I am headed to Los Angeles, CA. I will probably have this project wrapped up by Monday. I want to check and correct a few more parts on the nose. I am satisfied how the tail turned out. The next batch of kits should be very nice. I will keep you all posted as I make progress.

looks like beautiful work, sir. i'm definalty interested in one of these kits but my stick and tissue building is limited to probably a couple of dozzen guillow's kits. so, i am not that familiar with a "short" kit. from what i understand the builder supplies some of the strip wood? is there any possibility of a complete kit for the airframe? i've watched your video several times, it's am amazing flyer and a tribute to a neat airplane that many of us have personal experience with and fond memories of.

regards..........rob

I get more excited every time I check this thread. Tom, you are doing a beautiful job, and I really appreciate you taking the time to do this so that we can experience the fun in building and flying one of these cool little Pipers. Thanks for all of you efforts!!!!!

Rob,

I am doing all I can just to offer this kit as a short kit. If it was not for the pm's, I probably would not have cracked open the cad file again. The 3D is bringing this bird back to life. I was very happy with the first plane. but was not satisfied how it went together. Fortunately, I have learned a lot over the last several years. This will be a nice project to have completed.
