Wish you luck in search for proper material.

Mitja grateful for the suggestion, I think the more accessible material is currently used aluminum antennas, ha ha ha at home since I have Directv air antenna and became part of the obsolete things in the workshop.

For now I have a fabulous performance Akrobat having, but not my style, I always declined by planners, his line and relaxed style and the Hotliner are covered with the expectations of a good day to fly.

Yet another Guppy is born

Hello Mitja, I have also built your Guppy. This is the 170cm Hotliner wing - option. I make some simplyfied hybrid: balsa-foam-depron. Two-part depron-wing without ribbs with balsa edges, and all surfaces are filled with 3mm depron. Fuse is partially hard foam. Full fly weight is about 470g, but I must take bigger battery for balancing more to nose. There can be lighter, but i have used full tin white painting. Thank you for plane sharing.
When I learn fly, I build one more proper Guppy.

Hi Mitja,

i'm new to the field of Rcs and i i'm trying to make a guppy plane like your
i live in Alexandia Egypt and it's very hard to get balsa wood in here so i'll make the plane with foam. "insulation foam"
the problem is the fuselage is very thin if i want to make wider say by 3 cm do i need to increase the lenth of the wings

and attaching foam wings to a foam fuselage is it safe or the plane will be torn apart with maneuvers

thanks

Hello all...

First of all congrats to Mitja for a very nice plane... And for putting the plans and instructions online for all of us (that never did a model plane but sure would like to have a go)....

So I've started a Guppy, my first balsa model glider... Up to now I have the main parts done, I'm going slowly on trimming everything properly to get a nice fit.....

Here are some pics.....
I hope that I'll have some more pics once I progress a bit more....

Guppy Family

Can't see this thread die now can we?
Here are some photos of 1.5M poly wing Guppies I built for friends, together with my 2M Guppy.
I am sure you can tell how impressed I am with the design and flying characteristics of this little glider

I think it would be ok without increasing the wing..
foams fairly forgiving , just dont make the maneuvers to wild , lol
Im surprised no one has answered your two questions yet, Good luck with the build and please dont forget to post some photos here for us to see..

Grant.

I don't think foam will be strong enough to support the "T Tail" section. You could possibly make the front section of the fuselage with foam (up to a few cm's behind the wing mount) and the rear section from a carbon fiber or aluminium tube. The "T-Tail" itself would however still need to be made of balsa. I am sure you will also have problems with the control linkages if you use a solid foam fuselage.
