Hello Friends, I pasted two more pics from the argentine guppy. The project is almost in the 95% done, the remaining works are: finish to trim the ailerons, add the cabin and finish to center the GC.

Tomorrow if the weather is good I will make the maiden flight. I do not see the time to flight it

I will keep you update.
Pablo

Nicec Guppy!

I see that you do the ailerons on poly wing layout. Dont be surprised as the roll rate will be low. There is a plans available for free for the special aileron wings. The dihedral is lower and ailerons are larger.

Aileron wing for Guppy (RG airfoil): http://www.trgovinamodelar.com/Media...s%20krilci.pdf

Maiden after shelving for nearly a year.

Hi Mitja,

Today I Maiden the Guppy with 3s 1050Mah battery, motor is the 1200kv type, Aeronaut prop 9x 4". Climb rate is incredible. Very nice aircraft to fly and land. Thanks Mitja for all the building tips, will try again on a sunny day and catch some thermal.

Today I flew in strong winds, not a nice feeling, hard to control, is this normal? I am flying the polyhedral wings. Winds was about 25-30km/h

Winds should not be a problem if is not turbulent. If turbulent, flying is not a joy.

In wind one should fly a bit faster than in calm weather or a weak breeze.

Check C.G. and controll throws anyway.

Today I try flying again and check the CG with 5gram of weight on the battery, it made a lot of difference and flew very well. The rudder is very effective in turning the Guppy, what a joy to build and fly this beauty! Landing is a breeze.

Mitja, can you remind me where the plans are available from? Are laser cut parts available?

Regards,

Neil.

Yes Neil, due enormus size of Guppy threads (part1 and part2) it is quite hard to find out proper links for free plans and manuals downloading.
Some links are broken now, and some are hard to find, so:

I will attach here plans for Guppy, plans for Hot wings(compatibile with Guppy) and an English assembly manual.

There are no CNC parts available.

A better performing Guppy, GUPPY2 is already one and a half year out there flying. Plans are available at my website for an affordable price, and building thread is here (click).

Hi Everyone!

This is my very first post here, I thought I must write here first
A couple of days ago, I also started the Guppy project, after the failure of my 2,4 m glider... as I expected, it is fast and easy to build, even after the plans, and if I could have one more week before school, I would easily finish.

Now I have "raw" tail components, raw fuselage, and an almost finished wing. In these moments, the glue cures under the top sheeting of the wing, which will have the outer dihedral breaks only, I built the two middle parts in one piece.

Tomorrow, I would like to finalize the nose, and install the motor.
I plan to cover the fuselage and tail with 25g glass fibre cloth, with the aid of one of my friends. This wing will have iron-on cover, but I want to build the hotliner wing too, with GF covering, so it will be quite durable.

As I figure out how to upload pictures, well, I can illustrate my words.

regards
Rapi, from Hungary
