cooling hole on this motor?

but there are holes cut into the side of this tiny main motor to help cool it down?.....did they have this on the original motor?

How did i miss that!?!?!?
Ok, now i know where to order next time!!

My MIA flies like a dream, except i do struggle with the tail authority.
I tried with a Micron tail rotor blade, and it seemd more responsive together with higher speed on the tail motor. Maybe my tail motor is dieing...

Best regards

you should try the geared tail setup with the MIA, then it will really fly like a dream.

johnIn2SonAZ,

Are any of the 4#3B MIA upgrades not put together by glue? I don't trust glue. I prefer bolts. Thanks

Is the direct drive making the tail slower?
It's impossible to do any quick piros now.

I guess i will try the geared tail setup. Thanks fretman.

They are glued together. Done properly, they will be very strong.
My 3 year old stepped on my MIA framed 4#3, and it held together, except
a canopy and flybar.
Check out Marios assembly videos.

Mario offers some metal spacers instead of the white plastic blocks separating the lover and upper frame.

I like geared tail too

when putting tailcase on mia boom-you can either drill it out and pressure fit

or do like I did and snip tailcase where it mounts on boom-I let the pressure of the plastic hold it on-works great! and can just slip tail wires through notch

also if you tried new tail motor and still no authority try this:

put rudder trim all the way to right, turn on tx, initialize heli, then center rudder trim

worked on my v1 bl

on my v2 bl didnt need any trim-but climbout sucked

DD tails doesn't have nearly the responsiveness as the geared setup. And the motor seems to work much harder as it gets pretty hot after each flight. With geared tail the motor is barely warm. I really wanted to go DD myself to avoid the headache of the tail gears, bearings etc.. coming apart but just doesn't work well enough for my tastes.

Happy 4th everyone!!

You mean, left trim all the way before initializing?

RcHobbyhelicopter Slightly Modded 4#3A V2

Just had some free time to do a little Modding.
4#3A V2
MIA Deluxe Flybar Tuning Kit
MIA Tuff Skids W/stock Battery Cage
I had to use longer screws from the Losi 1/36 truck parts bag and ream out the holes in the skids to get this to fit.
Turned EXTNT up!
Very Fun to Fly!
Happy 4th!
Cheers, JohnW

hmm -if I remember right I was having to do it to the right

matter of fact I am sure of it!

maybe I was doing it wrong all that time-but it sure fixed my tail authority!

I have repeated this many times-but it amazed me that I didnt have to touch my tail trim for almost 300 flights/crashes!-and over 50 of them brushless

I suspected it was the new gearing

mine was pre-production-set up perfectly

also my original motors were short ones- for over 150 flights on one!

in example-motor mesh was spot on for all that time. same with flybars and collar- no adjustments for all 250-300 flights!

point of all this being-

if TUNED perfectly, this thing needs no mods(imho)spring, rubber band, nothing!

I reccomend using your ears to tune too

I could hear the quiet new v2 servos working while I was hovering-just friggin amazed me!

You have to Move the trim all the way to the opposite direction.
for example if you have the trim all the way to the left and the tail still isn't still move the trim all the way to the right and then have the gyro center itself upon initialization.
