Thanks John,

When I make it available, I will put all the info on a web page. I was using Blue Arrow controllers 3 and 4 in 1 with E-Hobby 490 servos, the very first ones with screw on cases, these were nice little servos at the time, a 12x22 mm Feigao brushless setup with the very first Hacker Master 4 B controllers that came out about 3 or 4 years ago, 2 cell 250 -400 mah lipol. Rotors varied depending on motor gear size combination but around 10 inches.

Mario,

I just purchased your custome frame and wanted to say THANK YOU

I've been following your work for the past few days (I'm getting my 4#3 tomorrow) and your custom frame represents a solution to everything I didn't like about the 4#3!!

I've been flying a 5G6 for a long time which has a similar frame and YES it is more "toyish" which I've never liked.

I've ordered all the parts for the Brushless conversion and was really dreading putting all these parts into such a small stock frame but yours gives me confidence that even a noob could pull this off.

How can I get that plain bright yellow canopy with NO decals? I really dig that look....

Fantastic work and thanks again....

Chris

Very nice, do you have a ready to fly weight?
I'd also like to know how well the tail works without the gearing.

Direct drive using stock motors and blade unmodified simply press fit onto motor shaft.

Pros:
Simple set up, no more tiny bearings wearing out.
Tail Locks nicely , no adjustment to gyro.
Less tail weight.

Con:
Tail motor gets warm.

Work Around Con Option:
Trim tail blade trailing edges 2mm to keep the motor cooler.

Total Flying Weight: 52.5 grams. (with 4" mini antenna)

Wow, that's better than I expected. The weight isn't too much. Does the tail still have enough authority with the trimmed tail rotor? I have been planning on putting some Koyo 681 bearings in the tail of my brushless 4#3 to make sure they last (cost me 8euros each!). I like the yellow canopy, too

Maybe I will get one of these frames for a 3rd heli I make my own upper swash plate and modify the standard head to get more stability so that sorts out the parts which need fixing.

At the moment I am working on a very light 4#3. I will use a 250mAh LiPo, lightened AR6100 (1.4g) modified for 1s, lightened 4#3 servos, standard frame and tail, no battery holder (just using the square mounting tabs to hold the landing gear on or some glue, whichever turns out to be lighter), homemade 1s brushless 3in1 (should weigh less than 4g if my calculations are right), Losi 10250kv motor. I will try to get the CofG right with the battery mounted where the original 4in1 was situated. I think it will look nice with a slightly longer canopy and no battery tray. I am aiming for 45g AUW including battery.

Wow, Mario, that is much better looking than the one you photochopped at the beginning of the thread... I think I am gonna retract my comments and order one of them... damn, its nice or what!
I need to rebuild the frame on the MB-1 (its all hack'd-up at this point ) and I might as well just go with your frame! 52 grams with canopy? that is pretty good!

How about some stickers that have the teeth and eyes. Like the kind on the A10's. Also might be wise to make the frame have parts you can bolt on to support 3 servos for the future 4G3 CP heli.

Yeah, looks pretty good and less fabrication involved... I ordered a new 4#3 frame yesterday before I saw those screenshots... damn I wish I would've seen them before ordering the frame!!

Its alright, I'll get the thing flying and when the entire thing is ready to order, I'll probably get one and do the transplant.
