1930 DODGE 21'6" SPLIT-COCKPIT RUNABOUT

I have just completed running three marathons in a row, at least that’s what it feels like, trying to finish the 1930 DODGE for it’s trip to TOLEDO next week. Since the paint is still drying I thought I would post some pictures of the next in the LEGEND MODEL BOATS lineup. It is a 1930 DODGE 21’6” Split-Cockpit runabout. It is a I/8 scale model of the real deal which measures in at 32 ¼” in length. The model is double planked mahogany over hard balsa planking. All of the details you see in the photos are in the kit. It will come with complete running hardware less power. There will be a separate power package, lighting package, and sound package. For now how about some photos of one of the classiest runabouts ever built.

This model would be worthy of a Kroker Sea Wasp, wouldn't you say so Woody Bob?

Hi Frankg
Great looking model. Two things do jump out though. First the casting of the "SEA-NYMPH" looks a bit rough the wing on the right side of the photo looks like it has been broken and the general casting looks pitted. Second on the gauge panel, the gauges look like paper cutouts, they need a covering to represent the gauge glass. Please accept these as constructive criticisms, I have seen the work of the Guy from Kitchener Ont. who usually wins with his Mahogany Logs, and I don't think these are details he would miss. Lots of luck at TOLEDO .
Regards,
Gerald

Rich, that is a really sharp looking boat, and I'm looking forward to seeing it next week---.

Are you going to give Jack Kipfer a run for his money?

CHARLIE EATON- I told you that Dodge had to do everything a little different from every other manufacturer. The bow light housing on the 21’6” runabout was also the front lifting ring on the real boat. Cool huh!!
STEAMBOATMODEL-The Sea Nymph does not have a broken wing and you’re a right that I went a little crazy with the feathers, putting more detail than should have been there. As for the rough casting , I actually tried to put scales on the lower half, fish end of her body. As for the gages they do have plastic lenses over them but I took great care in not getting glare in the photo. As for the over all casting of the Sea Nymph, I concede to Jack, but remember he only had to make one, I on the other hand, had to make 100 pcs. at a shot. I thank you for even mentioning me in the same sentence as Jack. I only can learn from my mistakes.

Frankg. I like what you have done very much. I think all the details are great. It is always easy to criticize someones efforts but do not let it get in your way. Fine work under the stress of a deadline.

Hi Frankg,
I mentioned you in the same sentence as Jack because from the shots you posted, it looks like your model is in the same category as his. I had not realized that you are doing this as a kit, could you post more details?
Regards,
Gerald
