Harbor Freight 4 ch P-51 Mustang Foamie

In Harbor Freight today and what do they have there? A P-51 Mustang Foamie
It was 4 channel that's right Aerilons too! THe Best part was the $99 price tag.
Had a radio and battery and charger etc. It was foamie too! I am sure it's not the best bird in the sky but what do you think...

Is it worth it?

Could ya actually get it flying?

Maybe a good 4channel trainer?

Maybe junk?

You wil never know if you never try. The company that makes the plane seems to make some good planes, so it looks like it's worth a try.

That looks like my AT P-51D Mustang. Being as it's 4 channels, it might be worth $99. It looks like it would fly ok.
Damn, if I hadn't bought my mustang, I might have looked into that one there.
Seems like more and more places are starting to carry electric planes.
That's cool.

Even the wing is the same shape as mine! Just a 2 bladed prop and different paint job.

I like the idea of a 4 ch foamie. If the prop were in the back (don't know how you'd do that with a Mustang) I would think it would be quite durable. Or maybe a great candidate for a prop saver. The other question I had was are there any room for adjusments if it is all out of wack with factory set up as this seems kind of likely with a less expensive plane.

WOw, that looks really great. I have 3 of the Wild Hawks and love them. If the P-51 is as well made (subjective I know) I'll definitely "need" one of those.
Any idea what kind of foam?

Well it's not the super rigid type (like in 3d models) but is more like the Aero Ace foam. I really didn't get a chance to get a real good look at it. But a semi quick look. It did seem to have some give for the inevitable crash.

I just got that mustang p-51D from niroplanes.com. It will not gain altitude seems to be under powered to me. I have a nice slop down to a lake in my backyard it just looses altitude, then when I turn to avoid the lake it just goes strait to the ground. 3rd try landing gear broke off. Then about the 6th flight the fuselage broke in half and it didn't even hit the ground hard. What little instructions it came with are written in broken english. Spend a little more money on something else. In my opinion it is junk.

In my opinion the whole thing is crap. The radio seems like something you would get with a cheap kit from radio shack. The trims stick up to high and move to easily if your not careful. It might have been fun with a motor that kept it in the air and a 1 gallon bucket of foam glue.

i guess it is true "you cant judge a book by the cover, or a plane by the looks"
