I am sad to report that I lost my EZG#2.
I was testing a new 900Mhz 8dbi patch antenna that seemed good up to 500m and suddenly I had a severe video drop out. Image did not come back after a few seconds, so I took off my goggles and searched for the plane in front of me, which I knew was at a viewable distance. But found nothing. Asked a couple of friends that were setting up their planes but they could not find it either. No, I did not have a spotter, nor RTH, nor a tracker device installed. The GPS tracker was on my backpack though, waiting for the interference test that I would do later that day... ![]() I just had a well configured failsafe, so I turned off my radio to make it glide with a gentle turn, hopping that the wind would bring it back (I always fly against the wind because o this). But I could not see it going down. I got in the car with a friend using my video gear searching for a video signal. We drove 2km for each side (N, S, W, E) but nothing. When we got back, my other friends volunteered for a group search, so we took 4 cars and drove around for 2 hours. Nothing. The map with some relevant info is attached. Some comments: - The Sector "A" is our flying field. It is covered with low grass and just a few bushes. We stand at a high position so we can view the whole area. We also drove/walked around it. - Sector "B" is dunes of white sand. I also drove around it and climbed the highest dunes to look around. The red tip of the EZG#2 would be vieable at a reasonable distance if it was there. - Sector "C" is the most probable, but also the most complicated. Many houses and private properties surrounded by walls. If it landed there, I could not see it. Earlier that day, it had a tendency to go there when I let it glide on its own. My failsafe also turns left and the wind goes left as well. - At position "P1" I got a pure black image on my goggles, instead of just static that I was getting everywhere else. This could be the vtx on without the camera working. But, again, some houses and private properties around it, so I could not check most of it. But if I had to bet on a landing zone, it would be there. - Position "P2" was where a friend found his glider a couple of years ago, after loosing sight of it in similar conditions. It is a swamp with difficult access, but the adjacent dune is quite high, so I just looked from the top, but found nothing. Ideally I should fly another FPV plane over the houses check their roofs, but I donīt have another reliable FPV plane to fly over houses and I am probably the only FPV flier at the NE of Brazil, so it will have to wait for me to build another one. I had my name and phone on it, so who knows, I might get a call someday.

FRANKENSTEIN Monostar
The Twinstar died and the Easyglider died... ![]() This is how my friend Frank came to the conclusion the MONOSTAR should be the logical outcome. The motor is a 1100KV with a 35A Speed controller turning a 11x7 propeller coming from a Radian. The cabin used to be a Twinjet cabin long ago deceased. This Multiplex Frankenstein happens to fly really well and has plenty of lift and power. Frank intends to use it for FPV so stay tuned :-) . the idea is brilliant, the plane is butt Ugly ! ![]()
