Im having an issue with my icharger 208b. It does not want to "turn on". I could hear the unit power on and energize the lcd board but that is all.

I know its not the power supply as it is getting the appropriate voltage. i've also confirmed by connecting to a 12v battery.

Please help.

How long have you had it?
Has it worked in the past?
What have you done differently?

it is about 8 months old. It has worked flawlessly in the past. I had bought it brand new from hobby king.

As far as i know there is nothing i had done differently. I double checked my powersupply and im getting the correct output. To confirm I hooked the unit up to a 12v battery.

If it is still under warranty then don't touch it. Otherwise you could try and re-flash it, maybe it just lost its mind.

So i just looked up my receipt, I missed the one year warrenty by exactly 3 days!!

I'll try updating the firmware. I cant find the usb cable that was included with the unit. I know it says explicitly to use the one that came in the box.

What can I use as a replacement?

The 3 days shouldn't matter.

I looked at my ICharger USB cable and it has a small connector that goes to the ICharger USB port and a normal USB connector for the PC. One would think that if you found a similar cable you could use it but then I found this quote.

Quote:
The USB cable we use is a little bit different from normal USB cables. When using normal USB cable, the metal shell will go through laptop's GND and the input power supply's GND via USB's SGND. At this time, when users connect the batteries' positive pole, and touch the charger's metal shell unconsciously, it will occur short circuit, which may damage the charger or laptop. To avoid this case, the SGND of our USB cable is disconnected. Of course, you can use normal USB cable, too.

Regards,
Junsi

Now that is one heck of a deal.

Others are selling the 306B for $159.

That ad does not say how many watts it puts out but at 40AMPS at 15V I think it will do what you want.
But $300?
WOW, expensive.

Also, watch out for the input voltage.
It says 230V 50Hz.

Thanks WoodCrafter.

I might go down to the shop and see how many watts it puts out, but like you said.. at 40A on 15v seems very safe for me.

The price is a fair amount. I "think" it come down to the unit being very low RFI and high quality with a adjustable voltage and safety features... who knows.

input voltage is no issue as this is what we use in Australia.

I found the following in the User Manual for the 3010B:

Quote:
Note: You must only ever use the supplied USB cable provided with your iCharger as this is a custom cable
with internal differences from other USB cables.
It doesn't seem to leave an option of using another cable.
