Please check the parameter setting, check the setting of the low limit of voltage, if it is close to the input voltage, which is not supposed.
If it was not, press STOP button for 3 seconds to monitor if there is any difference between the input voltage and the actual voltage measured?

If you use 5/21W bulbs (tail/brake combo) you have four possible loads:

Awesome. Thanks.

I was using 50W resistors in parallel. This setup is much better.

Thanks again.

re: Cells not registering

I have two almost brand new GForce 2200 3-cells that my iCharger noticed immediately as 2 cell batteries. I confirmed that the solder connections are OK, so the problem exists somewhere inside the balancing plug.

Are these plugs replaceable or can the wires be re-seated?

You are thinking that the balancing plug on the side of the charger is bad?
I wouldn't think this is replaceable.
We'll see what Junsi says.

Did you measure voltage at all the pins on the battery's balance plug?

I am quite certain I don't have the proper instrument to make such a measurement.

Could it be just a bad cell? After only two or three cycles? And happening to two batteries?

That would seem highly unlikely.

Do you have a volt meter?

It is a good tool to have for any hobbyist.
Harbor Freight sells them for like $20.

I would measure voltage at all the balance plug pins before I condemned the charger unless you have checked it with a third battery pack and you get the same results.

The charger is fine, as I have subsequently charged other batteries with no issues.

The cell-read failure was confirmed by both my iCharger and separate tester.

3010B and LiFe

After running several cycle tests on a new Hobbico 1100mAh 2S LiFe battery I have a few questions about charging them with the 3010B.

While charging the peak voltage reaches 3.60V, the charger begins a CV charging phase. Within an hour after the charge cycle completes per cell OCV drops to 3.34V. After a discharge test at 1C to 2.5V/cell a cell recovers to 3.23V. The OCV difference between a fully charged and drained cell is only 0.10V.

The discharge curve is very flat, like a NiCd/NiMH battery. Cell voltage varies with load applied, but the overall shape remains about the same.

A 2S LiFe seems a nice replacement for five cell NiCd/NiMH packs. I'm a bit concerned about tracking charge condition at the field. It looks like a CellLog or PowerLog wont be as useful as with LiPo packs.

Now for the questions:

1) The default storage voltage is 3.30V, only 0.04V below the fully charged OCV. Applying a load will pull cell voltage down. With only four hundreds of a volt to work with, what load should I use?

2) Is use of storage mode required? (I use it with LiPo)

3) Discharge tests do not terminate as a cell reaches the discharge limit voltage. Instead, the charger seems to divide the pack voltage by the number of cells and use the average. In LiPo mode, it stops when a cell reaches the discharge limit.

4) Does the LiPo 80% depth of charge guideline apply?

Thanks

1. None.
2. No.
3. Yes, this flaw has been pointed out several times. It's actually the same for LiPo. I just tested with cutoff set to 3.30V. The charger didn't enter the CV phase (discharge reduce on) until pack voltage was 9.90V (3S). At that time lowest cell was 3.25V.
4. No.

Different charger.
The iCharger is 250W.
And the fans are located in a different spot.
