i have 106B charger and what to charge my 6cell nimh battery (from my xray m18mt) using 12mA current (ok i used 10mA) for 14h.
So i set 10ma in MAN charging mode... after 9 min and some seconds charger stopped charging and on the display i say blinking NIMH/OVER
so i started to charge it again and now for 20min running i'm having 8.45V, is it ok? why charger stopped even it has been in manual mode (safety timer is switched off)

It is hard for a delta-peak detect charger to charge very low capacity NiXx packs, it tends to false trigger. You could try:

* Turn NiMH Trickle ON
* Increase NiMH Check Delay time
* Turn the Safety Timer OFF

I have taken a short (bad quality) video clip showing how balancing starts immediately. You can see the balancing start in the first few seconds on a pack that is discharger to 3.3V.

Junsi, any chance of having the balancing kick in towars the end of charge as previously suggested?

got it, trickle... set it to 120mA (my battery is 1200mah)
After some charging (maybe hour) time display started blinking with OVER TRK / NIMH CHG 0.12A

what does it mean?

Charger number two updated..

Updated charger 106B number 2. I really do need help with proper soldering techniques and equipment. Again it took awhile but hopefully it will be worth it. I did notice the case can get quite hot during the discharge process. I still need to get the cases up on some standoffs. I don't think I am going to push discharging too hard on these chargers.

You're not wrong there, 154F on mine using a temp gun, too hot to touch for more than a couple of seconds. That was with the unit not flat to, but resting on it's edge. Might be even higher if it's flat on it's back. The design is not great when discharging for getting rid of the heat.

Is there a fix for the 1010B equivalent to the "remove C47" fix for the 106B or do you have some other recommendation ?
Hello Kgfly,
Thanks for telling us this!
Please tell him to remove “C52”, which lies in the left downwards of the PCB. The other way is to upgrade his version 2.9 to version 3.05 according to the upgrading instructions.

Thanks,
Junsi

Thank you for the fast response Junsi. Does upgrading to 3.05 also fix the problem on the 106B or is removing C47 still required on that unit even with 3.05 installed ?

Hello Kgfly,
You'd better remove the C47 for 106B even you have upgraded your charger to version 3.05.(I made a mistake before! )

Junsi

You can do 2 things:

- Charge with at least 0.5C. Lower charge currents will not trigger the delta peak termination reliably, therefore the erratic behaviour you experience.

- Charge using the NIxx mode. This mode is optimized for longer charges for forming the battery pack.

Do not set the tickle current higher than 0.1C.

Junsi, is the feature of automatically adjusting the tickle current according to the charged capacity already implemented?

I have seen the video, and have to agree. Balancing at a voltage level of 3.5V certainly too early.

Hello Julez,
Sorry to say that this feature hasn’t implemented yet . Currently, the user has to set the trickle current by themselves.
