However, I am only 50 miles southwest of Denver, CO. I like the idea of using a Stevens Aero SQuiRT. Tough little bird. Nearly indestructable with the recommended direct drive 400.

Thanks, Bruce
Bruce,

You are the only one to comment on the plane choice, and I also think it would make a good choice for this adventure. I plan on going with the stock sp400 motor with a 2S LiPo.

How does this sound?

Mission Statement

Provide an atmosphere in the spirit of camaraderie by having a single, focused goal of flying a radio controlled airplane around the 48 continental United States in an expeditious manner.

Vision Statement

Fly a battery powered model airplane (Stevens Aero SQuiRT) in all 48 states by as many pilots as possible at their local fields. The plane will be hand-delivered to the next pilot on the list creating a "chain" of pilots that theoretically fly the airplane across the United States and back.

Will this work?

I'm drafting up some rules and regs now. Common sense stuff, but I guess it is necessary.

Thanks,

Frank

Sounds real official like Frank. Yeah, I would guess some guidelines would be requisite to make sure the effort comes to fruition.

Well if there isn't anyone in Michigan yet, I'm in Traverse City, 49684, but I could make it down to Ann Arbor for a flight. If I'm needed, I'm here.

If the path comes close enough.. add me.

But... don't put me in if there's a 75 mile drive on each side of me to do it and it would be shorter to use another route.

Flying site would be Temple Aeromodelers field, on the edge of Moffat, TX.

Thanks Bill. I figure if we have hundreds of pilots on the list, we better have some standards set so there is no arguments down the road. All the rules will be laid out before the first flight.

Here's a pic of my travel box I used for my SquiRT. Something along these lines might be a good idea to keep the kit together and safe.

I no longer have a SQuiRT or the box, but would be happy to make one for the Traveling SQuiRT if it comes my way or it can be sent here -Steve

Maybe just send plans for the box to the place the plane will be starting from. (or post the plans... since they could be adapted for other models for people who want to transport one)

Shipping the built box might cost as much as the materials to make it...
