Pilot #9 is in practice and ready. I flew again after losing my other plane to a dumb risk - it flew way far away in perfect trim. I cobbled a retired airframe and put some Hobbycity stuff in it and it flew perfectly this evening. It will be my warmup for the L'il Sqoit.

Nothing but mare's tails and a gentle breeze tonight, so I expect a nice high pressure in the N. VA DC MD vicinity.

Perhaps this is a good time to ask: should we donate some funds towards extra backup Squirts? I expect the incident with the damaged elevator horn happening so early in the tour is a statistical anomaly, but with 270+ pilots and thousands of miles of transportation I think we can all figure that there will be more "incidents" as the tour progresses.
John,

Thanks for the kind words but it has been you all that really made it happen. Without you and all the other pilot's commitments it would still be just an idea -so thank you and the 273 other pilots.

If you would like to donate some cash to the kitty there is a link on our web site that goes to the WAA-08 treasurer. Greg deals with the money in both receiving and distributing it. He has a PayPal account set up for that. For example; we have to replace the money in the envelope that Dave will be using to purchase the new ESC so Greg will PP the cash to Dave and he will restock the envelope. I'm sure we will be need other things along the journey. The fund is also to help pilots if they need gas money when they have to drive more than 50 miles to the next pilot. It is there if they so choose. Here is the link to our site:

Marty from RedneckRC, one of our sponsors, is going to be sending a CC Pixie 20P to our Greg S (pilot #10) for free. Thanks Marty! We will arrange to have the bad one sent back to CC and have it replaced. Dave B will be soldering on some connectors on the motor to ESC leads so it will be an easy swap if this happens again.

I just found out that FlyRC has a piece on the WAA-08 adventure in the August issue.

I have to go find a copy.

Thank you, Marty!
I will make sure it's a "plug n play" affair when it gets placed in the box.

Now I've got to find somewhere that has FlyRC.....

Still in VA. Trust me, I'd like to get her moving also.

Total pilot count as of today is 277. Anyone care to guess which two states has the most pilots?

I suspect once the story about WAA-08 in MA hits the streets we are going to get a bunch more requests. I believe the tone of that article was asking for more pilots.

Frank,

I haven't been following along lately.

I would like to know the contact info of the people I will be picking up from and delivering to.

Would you email it to me when you know?

Brian,

You are pilot number 34. When the WAA-08 plane gets to pilot #26 or abouts, I'll send the next group of 10 pilots so they can coordinate drop-offs. Right now we are holding steady at pilot #5.

Frank

PS Thanks for your participation.

Frank, my opinion would be to only accept new pilots if they will be beneficial to those pilots with long hand-offs between them. As it stands right now, it's going to be a LONG time until those of us on the tail end see the Squirt. Remember our Mission Statement states something about "expeditious" doesn't it?

(who's hoping 2.4Ghz is still legal when he flies the WAA-08 Squirt...LOL)

Andy,

I need someone in the Montgomery area to hand the Squirt off to. Or maybe in the Auburn area. Do you know of anyone in that area?
