that will be fine , but the n/b doesn't care, just give it enough fin and rudder area.

Any of them, it all depends on cell count and prop you gonna use,

-For example the 1300kv works well on two cells and biggish props like the GWS 10x3.8 or 10x4.7

-On 3 cells use 8 inch props

10Amps will be about maximum these motors will take on this winding

-There are other windings, hotter and softer but haven't tried them.

These are the latest ones I've used form HK http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2069

I'm thinking about using a 7x4 or 8x3.8 prop on 2s, what do those blue wonders weigh though?

They're 24g. For that size prop on 2S I'd use the 1700Kv version. I generally run the 1500Kv on 2S and 9 x 4.7 props, or 3S and 8 x 4 props.

Why not build a 20 incher? It's a better match for that motor.

i meant to but somehow it ended up at 17". Might make my 2nd one a 20"er.... The motor does seem a bit heavy. Any other/smaller motor suggestions?

The same thing happened to me, hahahaha! My 17" is powered by a HK 18-11 2000kv on 7" or 6" props, and a 2s 350 pack. It's a 10g motor but has good power. Not as effective in wind as a blue wonder sized motor though.

Get any model too heavy then it has to fly too fast. My first 17 incher was powered by the 2211, that's the 16 gram motor. I prefer the AX 1806 now, it can take more of a beating at indoor, is an easy fix or rewind and no broken wire problems.

jefte, are you peter in the hobbyking discussion thingie for that motor? already had a look at that
but I like a bit of power to hand if needed. I've also seen a axi 2204/54 copy/lookalike that's 19g. would that work?

Hoverc, you're in the right neighbourhood with a 10g to 19g motor. An 1811 (10g) scoots along my son's 17-1/2" nicely but not very aerobatically, the 2204 clone (19g) mates with an 8043 prop for gobs of excess power. The 2211 (16g) sits between the two as you would expect -- I use it a lot but I do prefer it rewound. I haven't tried the AX1806 myself but I am sure you can trust goldguy's recommendation, and the circuit board for the leads is nice if you're hard on motors.

It's your choice, any will work.

As for making a 20" circle of foam, it's a matter of grabbing a wooden paint stir stick, measuring 10" from the flat end and hammering in a finishing nail. Now jab the nail into the foam and pivot the stir stick while holding an xacto blade against the flat end.
