Humm???? Dueling deltas..........

One thing about deltas is, they laugh at the wind. They can't be beat for windy day flying when everything else is grounded.

Gold I agree about windy weather flyers none better.....heres the tally so far Superfy,Hyperflea,Superflea,Mini Arrow and a tractor delta.

Does a Gpw Vector X count as a delta ? Cos I got one.

What wing span for a rimfire 370 outrunner setup and what span for an E-Flight 250 OR setup?

Hi Folks,

I want to place my first order with Lazertoyz today. My current 30" Nutballs with the
GWS 300 C w/D gearing are still flying great. But almost all of my motors are suffering
from chipped plastic gear drives. I'd like to drop down to a 20" or so nutball. Smaller
pieces/parts to assemble/decorate and less weight when I do pile one in.*G* What
motor/battery/prop combo will work well? I've heard good reports from the 24g blue
motors. Their combo comes with an option of 10 or 15 amp esc. Any suggestions

A Blue Wonder will work fine in a 20" NB.
You don't need max power so you might as well get the 1300Kv wind and use a 8 x 4 GWS DD prop, 500mA battery 2 or 3s, 10A or 15A Esc your choice. AUW 6-7oz

Plenty of power with 1300Kv BW Jim... no need for the Higher Kv versions which are happier on 7" or smaller props....

You will get better Hi Alpha flight and hovering with the 8" prop and you always have the option of using a 9" prop ..It's all about thrust.

Dekan, what delta is your picture. I need to finish my hyperflea Just gluing the stabs and canopy and installing the gear is all that is left. Been that way since December. Hand launching just isn't the same for me, but wind keeps me from flying alot.

Dekan, I was thinking for that with some landing gear and a working rudder, that tractor delta might be something to try for ROG as either a rudder or turning LG makes for more fun.

For me, the BW on the 20" was not the same as a 16g motor on the 17". Plenty of power, just not as zippy.

I'm using the BW from lazertoyz, and their 10A esc, also their red covered 900 2S battery on my 20" NB. Spinning either the 9050 DD or 9047 SF prop. Plenty of power at only 6.7Amps or so on the 2S.

If it's really windy I put on their 900 3S w/9050 prop and it's insane!

Tymbe.Your 17" is probably quite nippy but so is my 17" R1 with its Hacker A10-15s

But as Jim requested some advice on a 20" NB... the 16g motor would not be my choice for a 20"

I have several BW1300Kv...my experience with them is pretty much the same as Paul's

Wasn't knocking the BW, its a very good motor on 2s but haven't done on 3s as no 3s batteries because I haven't invested in a balancing charger so I took the BW off for something that is a little more powerful without much weight trying to stay 2s.

I have only done the 1200Kv on BW 2S, so I wonder how the 1700Kv would compare to its little cousing the 15-17g models as they turn around 1700Kv.

Sometime this summer I need to invest in a balancer and some 3S so I can try "insane".

I don't have either, but consider the largest diameter, lowest pitch prop they will turn on 2S or 3S, which ever you have.

A 17" 5-6 ounce NutBall likes a 7 to 8 inch prop and a 20" 7-8 ounce NutBall likes a 9 to 10 inch prop. If you keep the weight low and the thrust high, you'll have pure joy.
