in one case we were fortunate to have our former pet sitter(who was going to vet school and became a vet) came to the house and took care of things for us. Its was a very sad evening but without the drive to and back from a vets office, (this cat was terrified of car trips) its a shame that this service isn't more common..

There is a local mobile vet who does that. We had our 18 year old Eskimo done at home in her own bed. Still terrible.

Enjoy them while they are here bacause time is gone before you know it.

We had to put our 11 1/2 year old down this morning after a battle with diabetes.

She is now playing with our beloved Amp Dog who we had to put down this week a few years ago.

Here are a couple pics...

So sorry to hear that, Capt. They sure leave a hole when they go, don't they?

Its been almost two years since I had to do the right thing for 'Zeus', and even though a new puppy has since joined the family, I still miss him.

So sorry to hear. It's never easy to let go.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

On a brighter side, here's our new addition, Kiska. He was about 2 mos. at the time.

For size comparison, those are 12" floor tiles---.

I have friend who's Daschhund bitch mothers every other animal (and occasional human too) that comes in the house, thus her name is mama lady (LadyPig Guenevere of Dole the Vth, papered name), and it is not an abnormal sight to see a huge puppy stuff himself into her little dogaloo so she can love them LOL
