New Custom Wound Scorpion 2208/34 $25 Shipped
Built from the Scorpion kit available from gobrushless.com and wound with 25awg wire rather than the thin multistrand on the stock version. This is about twice the copper fill with a considerable reduction in resistance. Consequently, it delivers a bit more power. For example, the stock version with a GWS 8040 HD gives this (taken from Scorpion's published figures):
Stock Motor:
GWS 8x4 HD 10.5 volts 6.11 amps 9350 rpm 14.22 oz thrust
(Rod Badcock's calculator lists that as a respectable 80.6 percent efficient)
The one I'm selling tested with the same prop:
Custom Motor You Can Own:
GWS 8x4 HD 11.23 volts 9.34 amps 11099 rpm 22.3 oz thrust
(Badcock's calculator shows that as 84.1 percent efficient)
So the numbers indicate it is both more powerful and more efficient. It was also quite good with the APC 7x5e prop:
7x5apc E Hex TP 1320 3S:
11058 rpm 11.2v/9.37a 529 grams 18.7 oz/thrust 83.69% Efficient
Specifications:
Scorpion 2208 17T 25awg Delta Kv 14631/12.25 = 1194
Peakeff: Kv = 1167 Io = 0.80 Rm = 0.192
Fooling around with various props, I don't think this motor will be good over more than 12 amps load (roughly) and probably won't efficiently run any props over 8". It started to bog down with an APC 8x6sf or GWS 9050, but should be fine with the GWS 8060 HD or the APC 8x6e. The APC 7x6 might also be interesting.
Includes a standard x-mount. The windings were finished off with real pigtails rather than just extending the winding wire. Wire used was top-grade Microdan high-temp. The motor has never been flown; only run on the test stand for very short periods to gather data.
$25 takes it. Free shipping is via USPS First Class Mail in the USA. Paypal only, and NO ECHECKS please. PM for paypal address.
If your offer is accepted, you have 24 hours from the pm of paypal address to pay or the item will be relisted.
CANADA: If you're in Canada and Real Nice (but who there isn't?) I might also ship under compelling circumstances, but it does require filling out forms and waiting in line and stuff like that (which I Do Not Like) and does cost a bit more. On the other hand I love Canada, so quite often sentiment wins out over good sense.
