Dude,

You have it so cool out there!

Try the middle of the Iraqi desert. Nothing to do nowhere to go......

Keep the faith and heads down.

I hear ya CPT... Been there done that. Two tours in Iraq as a 88M (truck driver). Spent many many many days/nights in the middle of nowhere hauling tanks/bradleys all over that place. Slept in my truck for weeks on end, and just generally had a "great time".

Yeah, we have it pretty decent here compared to my first and second tours in Iraq... This aviation thing is way different than transportation was.

Laine,

What you need ia a Proxima type projector, like they use for PPs at meetings. Check with your S6 & Friendly Supply Sarge, might just be one you can borrow at night. Or, ask around the contractors huts to see it they have an extra. When I was ther we just happened to have two, the second one we lent out to the guys when they wanted to show DVDs in the hootches. You just hook it up to a laptop and show movies off the HD or reader, or as you said you guys have a share drive with them on it, very cool thought for the troops to share the movies. Also check with MWR for a projector, never know.

Hope you have some luck,

Crunch

Roger that. My good buddy Patrick is working on hookin us up with exactly that, a Proxima or similar. Since I am the supply guy (yeah, us CW's do all the additional stuff) we cant get another projector. So, the only one we currently have is being used for exactly what you said... PP presentations... oh how I hate death by power point. The "new Army" has to make everything "pretty". Grrrr.... Lets go back to the old days like when I came in 16 years ago.

Yup, I've seen some of the "New Army" PPs, it is a slow, painful death!

Crunch

PS, look on the bright side, only 4 years till you retire!

Oh yes. 4 more years, I THINK Im outta here. The problem is, my "flight pay" jumps $350 a month higher and they will be "offering" me CW3... another $600 or so pay raise. Then, Ihave to stay 3 years as a CW3 to get that retirement pay. grrrrrrr... decisions decisions! Luckily, thats 4 years away. We'll see whats going on in the world at that time. Sure would be nice to spend some time at home for once!

To make you feel better - as a grunt PFC I made $285/mo including combat pay in VN in 1966.

I was drafted from a job that was paying me $690/mo. which put a real strain on meeting my financial obligations as a married man. Not sure what they were thinking back then.

Stay safe!

Hey Rud-Elev... I guess it wasnt much different when I joined up then. I made $785 a month back in 1992 as a PV1. Times have certainly changed for me since then.

MyHeli... I agree, grandpas should be rich. Hopefully I will be a rich grandpa one day.
The rich part sooner than the grandpa I hope!
