Wanted
XC sailplane plans, fuses, molds and such for XC project WANTED

Howdy all-

I've been working on a Cross Country sailplane project for a while now, trying to get a simple Starter XC sailplane design available.

A couple of us are currently working on the plans for a plywood version of the fuselage but are very interested in finding a currently available fuselage to work with.

It would be helpfull if anyone has an XC fuselage mold or plugs available for use. I've heard of at least a dozen molds that seem to have their whereabouts unknown.

If you have any knowledge of one of these molds, I am interested in talking with you. I am interested in the mold itself or making a pull of your mold so I can make a second mold for the project.

Even if all you have is an old fiberglass XC fuselage available, I'm interested. I can make a mold from that.

I'm also interested in any XC plans or kits that someone might have.

I'm a custom foam cutter so I can trade or buy these items if necessary.

Here's a link to the XC project thread-

Thanks for your help-

XC ships

Hi:
I kit the well known Astro Jeff. www.vintagesailplaner.com and it still is a great beginner to intermediate XC ship. Will not compete with the $2000++++ all moded ships necessarily, but who knows, in the right hands..... FG and kevlar fuse, mods with carbon reinforced spars, two 5/16 harden wings rods, etc. 151" span.

I've got a Pathfinder fuselage I might be persuaded to sell you. The only problem is how to get it to Eureka. The sucker is rather large. It was originally designed to carry a Replogle barograph in flight. I can take some pictures of it if you are at all interested.

George-
Bakersfield isnt too far away- I visit socal every now and again.

I'd love some pictures- I'm interested.

The ASTROJEFF is a good sized plane- I might be intereted in just the glass fuselage- especially if they are commercially availalble for purchase.

Thanks for any and all help guys!

Any more?

Hi Steelhead:
Yes I sell the fuse by itself, good number of sales for non-NOS soaring. $160 plus shipping. Requires a 8" x 8" x 72" box. Email jle15@PSU.EDU for more info if needed.

OK, here are a couple of teaser photos of the Pathfinder fuselage. I can take some better pics of the entire fuse on Saturday. The metal strip in the first picture is an 18" ruler to give you an idea as to the scale. The fuse is 62" long and the front end is about 6" high. I've done a bit of seam filling, way back when but that is all. I also have a set of wing cores (a Mike Bame thick airfoil section) to go with it.

Ron,
I've tried to respond to your last PM but your IN BOX needs to be cleared - it won't let me send you any more PM's.

I'll definitely buy the Aquila XL fuse we talked about at your asking price. PM me for my shipping address and how you want to be paid.

Have you got what you wanted? Julian Tamez designed and built a number of his Southern Cross XCs in the 80s and I have two of his fuselages. Takes a wing around 160 inches. Julian was big on the Eppler 374 if I remember correctly.

If you are still looking for a XC fuse you are welcome to one of mine. Pay for the shipping and packing and it is yours. I am on the east coast.

PM me with any thoughts on the fuse Dean. Thanks.

Alan-

I sent a PM to you a minute ago.

If anyone reading has photos of people flying XC or of XC ships that they'd like to share, I'm trying to accumulate photos for posting on a webpage promoting RC XC Soaring. Let me know if you have any photos to share.

Thanks

Dean

XC Fuse...

Great fuse that we've been using on homemade planes at Montague... built in Gorden Jennings' mold. Let me know if you are interested...

Sled- PM sent.

If its available- Might I be able to pick it up at Montague this year?

That is the fuse style that Greg used to win last year's Montague. I've also seen it used with SBXC wings and a T tail. I cant remember who's team used that one, but it is a really good looking plane.

Still interested in anything people might find.

Thanks-

Dean

Yes, I two sets of bagged T-tail surfaces for planes that used the SBXC wings, one for Matt and one of Tom, Tom, and Dave.
